I wrote a paper on this AND there are 3 types of polio, only one type is deadly and its very rare. The whole polio thing has been blown way out of porportion. What few people know is that when the vaccine came out the outbreak was already on its way out and the vaccine CAUSED the second and more deadly outbreak of polio, the first outbreak wasnt even the deadly kind.Jonas salk went before a senate sub commity to have his vaccine removed and the government refused. search the words "POLIO HOAX"

I just remember my grandparetns telling me that they were always terrifies during the summer..the virus apparently loves the warmer weather..and that any cold/fever in their children caused them great concern..the disease progressed so quickly...I remember getting the polio vaccine when I was little...a white sugar cube with a dot of bright pink on it...it was too sweet for me..but I can see my Mom's face making sure I didn't spit it out...it was a series of three sugar cubes...and it was a public health issue...these vaccines were done at a local high school...this was a biggie...poeple died and were horribly paralysied each year from this virus..and it was a huge, huge public health victory...

My father had polio as a child and recovered. The only lingering effect is a part of his upper lip that has no feeling.

I do keep in concepts a flu epidemic in 'seventy 3 -- i replaced into in college and they somewhat presented on the end of school on Wednesday that they were final college on Thursday and Friday because this manner of excellent type of scholars were ill. I okay ought to have forgotten a flu contained in the 60's. i imagine I in problem-free words keep in concepts the 'seventy 3 one because college closed and that i visit keep in concepts what grade i replaced into in and, hence, can keep in concepts the 12 months. Oh, to be youthful lower back and be happy there replaced right into a flu undesirable adequate that we were given out of school!!!

prolly not the answer you seek, but I was named after the guy who invented the vaccination, Dr Jonas Salk(my name is Jonas). I was born in 75 so I dont have any room to speak but I always feel like saying that whenever I hear the name due to its rareness.

It's amazing that no one has found a cure for anything else since then. With all the money and research. I guess it's true that there is no money in cures. The big money is in research, and treating symptoms. ( more harmful drugs, with side effects from hell)
