Get rid of pain from a shot?

I got a shot of phenergen (for nausea) in my arm on monday and my arm is still killing me. Its been 4 days! Its getting to the point where I can barely lift my arm, it hurts so bad. Any ideas on how to help ease the pain? Is this normal?

I have the exact same thing with every kind of shot!! My oral surgeon asked me if my face gets hot when I drink wine, and I said Yes, and he told me that I am probably allergic to sulfites that are used as preservatives in injections. Not that it helps me much, but there you are...

I have found that an ice pack (or a bag of frozen peas) and some Tylenol does the trick after a few hours.

  • Try ice for a little bit, that should numb the pain, next call your Doctor ASAP! It could be nothing, but the part about the arm sounds serious,it is very possible there is a clot.

once you've beaten ice, take it and placed some in a washcloth. Then carry it for your arm a couple of minutes and change to and fro between both fingers. you should use ice cubes wrapped in a wash textile too. This helps alleviate the discomfort and takes the nice and cozy temperature out of the area. Take 2-3 Ibuoprofen also.

1st thing is to call your doctor. It could be you have a reaction to the shot.

In the meantime try an ice pack.
