Claus is the abbreviation for Nicolaus. They are the same person

They're SUPPOSED to be the same person.
St. Nicolis Is the patron saint of children I believe.
Santa Clause is the Dutch pronunciation of St Nicolis. Santa= Saint Claus= Nicolis

depends where you come from saint nicolas is from norway/he wasa man who gave the children gifts at christmas starting the custom
Santa is am odern day version but do not for get the real reason teh birth we celebrate even tho he was not born on christmas day Jesus birth is the reason we celebrate christmas

and same thing different name ... although coca cola created the santa we know now based on St Nicholas's seasonal giving that he was known for
