If you were given a trillion to use it purely for the betterment of humanity, what would you do?
How I chose? I eliminated
(1) the predictable "I am humanity"
(2) religious aspect
(3) personal use aspect
(4) Passing the buck,
- donating to other organizations
- hiring others even to generate ideas
(5) irrelevant idealogy
- abolish wealth (how would you do it with money?)
Some are too small in scope and would have been
great answers for an amount in the millions,
(1) Local libraries etc.
(2) micro loans (at trillion level, the micro loan could turn out to be a hand out as you would be literally begging people to take the money)
Some, while based on good intentions, are either not sustainable even with a trillion dollars or have possible negative side effects,
(1) free healthcare for all in US (may cause further skyrocketing of health care costs)
(2) feed, clothe, medicine, house and education for everyone (hand outs in themselves don
(3) pay off US foreign debt (great idea, but bails out the original culprits to go and accumulate more debt)
Some of the out of the box ideas/answers I liked are,
(1) Buy up and privatize all rain forests or invest in green technology
(2) Build a new country and set it up as a benevolent dictatorship (somewhat megalomaniacal, though)
(3) Campaign for love (effectiveness would be questionable though)
Of these three, my choice is,

Buy a country and set up rules and elect like chain of command and make sure every person either went to school or had a job and make sure if you have children you will both make a home for it and or else go to jail and enforce it,,,,,Education, knowledge, and family is the key to a better society, With a place to go and to be and if one does not have to be at a place at a certain time they are in every body way and up to the stealing or any thing to get attention,,,When there is too much killing for no reason as today it is because they feel no one cares and they shoot the ones that have parents and a family or a union,,,,,The mode of living and being is ::::Love, trust, and belonging, witholut this there is utter chos......

Honestly, once you have a trillion dollars, the issue is no longer money, its how well you can motivate people.
Money will not change the world, loving service will. So I guess I would start a campaign to convince people to love each other and to do things for others especially the people closest to them, both physically and otherwise.
I could just hand out all the cash, but then it would just cause more greed when everyone finds out its only $1600 per person in the world.
Poverty is not the worlds problem... its greed and people thinking they have the right to have more than their fellow man.

No more hunger, homeless people, build a heathcare hospital for everyone could have healthcare without the politics of insurance being involed in the quality of care people recieve. I would build some kind of housing for the homeless to give them back some dignity and respect. Help those in Africa to have medicine for the most aid's effected country.

That is a staggering amount of money. If possible, invest it in green technology (as a foundation), and use the proceeds to provide green small business start ups (grants) internationally. If it was not possible to invest it all in green tech, set up a foundation to encourage peaceful means of conflict resolution by making nonprofit grants to groups and educators promoting non-violence, and to provide seed money for producers of entertainment showing peaceful conflict resolution.
Investments and foundations would insure that the good would be perpetuated.

The backbone of America is it's Independent Bible Believing Baptist churches. America is the strongest most influencial nation in the world too. So, I would build as many Baptist church buildings as possible, print as many King James Bibles as possible, I would pay people to be full time Soul-winners and tell others how to go to heaven, and I would employ missionaries to go to other countries and preach the gospel. I would start a radio program to tell others how to go to heaven, I would use my time to do more preaching of the gospel than I do now. I would tell how all men are sinners(Romans 3:23). I would tell how thprice for sin is to die and go to hell(Romans 6:23). I would tell how Jesus died to pay for all men's sins(Romans 5:8), and how anyone who will trust Jesus to save them and take them to heaven will get the eternal life Jesus is offering to everyone(Romans 10:13, Romans 6:23b)

I'd help my town first. I think you should start where you live. Good schools, better library, medical donations, and food pantries. Then I would be very careful choosing what organizations I would donate to. I know I'd give to the Salvation Army. They do such good and don't ask for much in return. I think I'd also donate to animal causes, because they are so important to humanity, it helps to make us human. Wouldn't it be great if we could have all that money to help people. I'd get as much out of the giving, as they would get.

I would create Micro Loans for businesses in third world countries. As they pay them back (a lot of programs have 100% repayment rate) I would keep re-investing the money/intrest into more micro loans.

Defeat hunger in the third world countries once and for all. Provide all those people with constant water, food, medicines and make sure that no child will ever have to die from hunger anymore.

I would pay the most intelligent and educated people in the world to create a think tank and create viable solutions for the problems that face us at the moment, and then use the rest of the money to implement the solutions.
