9 AnswersCricket1 decade agoAny tax ideas to offset the tax bite off an unusally large bonus?
This year I got an unusually large bonus (around 35% of salary) while I normally get around 10-15%. Is there any way I can smoothen the tax bite?
- I already max 401-K, have a employer retirement plan and am not eligible for IRAs based on household income.
- This is 2006 bonus, paid in 2007. So the delay a year option is already utilized.
Can I invest the excess money in any investment that would help me defer taxes a la 401-K or classic IRA (I don't know...some government bonds? 529? investing in business? buying a bigger home?)
Thanks in advance.
4 AnswersUnited States1 decade agoIs the Blue Ray disc in PS3 as good as stand alone BlueRay DVD players?
I am asking this because, the lowest price Blue Ray players are in the 700s while the PS3 throws in BlueRay, Wifi, Harddisk and Game controller all for around $600
6 AnswersGames & Gear1 decade agoWhy should god be omnipresent and omniscient?
Should god be extremely powerful by human standards though not omnipotent or omniscient, would he somehow not qualify as god?
Couldn't god have been someone who has the ability to create and direct the world aound us without the ability to absolutely dictate present and the future?
Why shouldn't god have his own follies, likes and dislikes, strength and weakness?
By boxing god into omnipotent and omniscient we make him into someone who couldn't care less about the insignificant us.
However a god who is less than omnipotent and omniscient could still be powerful enough to pervade and influence our lives and could be one that craves for us to love him and worship him and is benevolent to his believers and either malevolent or indifferent to his non-believers.
Such a god could have created the universe and may be directing it without completely controlling it.
What would be the problem in accepting such a god?
5 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoWhat could be the human concept of god in about 5000 years?
I am interested in web links that provide different theories on the
status of "god" in a distant future (say 5000+ years later) when
humans may have (will they?) achieved many of the abilities (like,
say, every imaginable comfort, super human abilities, practical
immortality) that we seek god's help in today's world.
Though I have categorized this under religion for lack of a better
category, I would prefer more of sites with objective
imagination/analysis as against those that espouse a certain religious
faith (however, not to exclude any extrapolation based on existing
religious faiths).
Thanks in advance.
18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHow to value a child care business?
We are in the process of negotiating to buy a child care business in NJ which has been in business for about 10 years, well run and has about 75 kids. The annual revenue is, say 750K with net profit being 250K. What should be our offer?
