Is the Blue Ray disc in PS3 as good as stand alone BlueRay DVD players?

I primarily bought my PS3 for the blu-ray... I have a 42" samsung plasma... The image is good...

The games look like they do off an XBOX 360... the 360 has more games, is cheaper (not if you add the HDD player, though)... If you play any games, and you want Blu-ray... this seems to be the most effective way to go... You will want the media remote (blu-tooth)...

Are you serious? The PS3 is the same price as blue ray players AND it plays games. Seems like a no-brainer. Think of it as buying a blue ray player and getting a gaming system for free.

the so called "father of playstation" Ken Kutaragi, has been quoted saying that the ps3 has a $1,000 blu-ray player, its rumured that sony purchased the rights to a blue-ray player from samsung, one that they would be releasing in about 2 months, and put it inside the ps3.

This is not suprising to me, as Apple does the same thing.

Their ipod harddrives are all purchased from samsung, they all say samsung on the hard drive.

samsung is a much more elite company then people give it credit for.

the Blu Ray player is just as good as stand alone. i used my DVD player on my PS2 for YEARS, despite being told that i shouldn't use it exclusively, that it would shorten the life of the player. I've had the system 5+ years and it works great still for both. if fact, i've had stand-alone DVD players go out on me, while the PS2 keeps on churning.

the one in PS3 will likely bear out to be the same, which is GREAT, since stand-alone Blu Ray players cost almost as much as the PS3 with one built in!

the ps3 is the same as a stadard blue ray player in image quality... where it is different is other blue ray players can do certain in movie actions that the ps3 cant... like watching how certain scenes are made while watching the movie... not in special features

Yes its a very good stand alone player. For the money especially.
