Hi there...when cats drool more than usual it could be indicative of a dental or gum disorders. Happy contented cats will drool, however it's not often. If your cat drools more often please consider ringing your vet to have your kitty evaluated.

    More on why cats drool:

[edit] if the drooling has happened suddenly, accidental ingestion of certain substances also will contribute to drooling.

Drooling can occur for a number of reasons in cats. Probably the most commonly identified reasons are gum or teeth disorders. Oral ulcers can sometimes cause excessive salivation. Problems that lead to nausea, such as renal failure or gastrointestinal disease also cause excessive salivation. Some cats salivate excessively when they are nervous or stressed. This is a common reaction to oral medications and application of flea control products, too. Your vet can help sort through these possibilities and hopefully find a treatable cause.

I hope this helped you out. Good luck with your cat!

Get your cat checked at the vet if you want, but if you haven't notice any other behavioral changes (not taking food, not toileting, lethargy)...I wouldn't be too worried about it. My cat Buddy is the biggest drooler in the world and there has been nothing wrong with him. Do you notice if the drool happens when you are petting him...b/c that's when Buddy turns on the drool...I think he is just enjoying it so much he loses control of his salivary glands. :o)

How long has he been drooling for? My cat on occasion gets a chilly and her nostril will run a sprint, she drools a sprint, and sneezes, even with the undeniable fact that it clears up after time. If he's been doing it for awhile, then possibly its basically how he's. save a watch on him and notice if there are any adjustments, is he loosing weight, is he ingesting usually, is he nonetheless on top of problems together with his bladder, and so on

Is it a new thing? or has your cat done it always?

One of my cats drools quite a bit when I am petting her. But she also likes to lick...so if I let her lick my hand every 20 seconds I have found that I don't have a puddle on my shirt after I pet her.

Yes it most likely is nothing to be concerned with. A lot of cats are droolers, plain and simple. But if you're really worried about it, check with your vet in case there is some kind of overactive salivary gland.

My cat drooled when it was happy or excited, just like males of other species.

Gender has nothing to do with this medical issue. It could be a digestive disorder or kidney disease. How's his appitite?

Have you kitty checked out by a vet to rule out life threatening conditions like kidney or liver disease.
