If I put four male black mollies in a 65-gallon, will they get along?

I do not want to breed them and have fry quite yet because I'm not prepared to take care of them. Or do I really need to include females with them to keep the peace?

Update:

I want to get one or two more tanks before I start breeding them: male, female/brood, and fry grow-out.

You can put a whole lot more then that if you got a 65 gal. I would add the females and if you end up with fry you don't have to take them out you can let mother nature take its course.

It's going to depend on the the temperament of the males, but I'd doubt you'll have much trouble in such a big tank. I'd get a mix of females, and males. All males and no females will stress out the males. Generally the fry get eaten, and only a few survive if any. Also black molly fry are pretty small so if you've got larger fish they are snacks.

Aren't mollies considered to be a "community" fish? If that is the case, it will just depend on the individual fish. Some have bad attitudes while others will get along with any other fish.

    Good luck!

No, the males will be fine on their own, they won't fight or anything. They might pester each other a little bit,. but in a tank that big, it's nothing to worry about.

However, you could get females and just let the babies get eaten by the fish in the tank.
