I have aq 94 Suzuki Sidekick that does not like to rev past about 4500 rpm. Any ideas on why?
It has about 83,000 miles and I have had the timing belt changed, and the exhaust system checked to eliminate the chance of a plugged cat. Full tune up and the fuel injectiuon system checked. She runs like a top, just wont rev very high.

it may have a computer going bad on it,,it wont give no trouble codes for it,,but there is a built in rev limiter in the computer,,that actually stops one from revving too high, especially if it not under a load,,like being drove,,you should be able to re-set the timing on it to help with this problem,,good luck, hope this help,s.

The rev limiter is determined at 4500 RPM to maintain you from making your flow pedal right into a detonator swap. it truly is to maintain you from blowing up the engine. the speed limiter (a diverse function) is to reduce excellent speed. you may purchase a chip or an entire ecu to eliminate the speed limiter and raise or eliminate the rev limiter. on your case i does no longer propose it. it type of feels as you're already consistently banging up adverse to the 4500 reduce. The limiter is doing it truly is meant purpose. it truly is conserving you from over reving the engine and destroying it.
