On cough/cold medicines: What is the difference between using a SYRUP or a CAPSULE?

There are some cough/cold medicines that are offered in both SYRUP and CAPSULE/TABLET format.

What are the advantage/disadvantage of using one over the other, given it is the same brand/type anyway?

You may refer to this link for some examples:

Are there any doctors or medical students here that can help? Just curious. Thanks.

Advantages of using the syrup is that it doesn't take the stomach as long to digest. So, it would be consider like a fast acting form.

Disadvantages of the syrup it tastes horrible for the most part.

Advantages of the pill or you don't taste it.

Disadvantage it takes at least 30 minutes to digest into your system.

The capsule is supposed to be easier for your stomach to digest but it still requires at least 30 minutes to digest and once again the advantage is you don't taste it.

These are the primary disadvantages and advantages of a syrup vs. pill. They both have the same strength of medication for the most part and still do the same basic function just one takes longer to take effect than the other.

I'm not a doctor or med student, but I can tell you from my own personal experience that I can only take tablets, because syrups make me throw up.

mainly it is just the ease with which they can be taken.syrups are better for the young.some adults think the tablet is harder to swallow than a capsule.
