When Jesus taught the Lord's prayer, Why did he say "Our father"?

If he was really the son of god, wouldn't he have said "My father who art in heaven..."?

How do Christians pray this prayer with their eyes WIDE OPEN and not see the facts.

Jesus was not the son of god.

Jesus was teaching His disciples how to pray and because they believed in Jesus, God is their Heavenly Father as well. So He was not just referring to Himself.

    That was easy.

He was showing His followers the way to pray. He is part of the trinity, Father, Son and Holy Ghost. My eyes are WIDE OPEN and I see the truth, Jesus is the only way. Period!

Good Question!!!! This is my question!! if Jesus,Yashu'a or what ever name people want to call him is God? Why would he direct his followers to pray to our father and not to him as the father?? This in itself show you that Jesus,Yashu'a didn't see himself as the father or the creater of the vast "Universes" man put that on Jesus,Yashu'a and he says in the bible "I NEVER KNEW YOU" He's purposely separating himself from christian because christian are the only one coming in the name of Jesus,Yashu'a and they are the only ones calling him the Christ. He's letting people know he never said he was God! He always refer to the father as the one that sent me and he always told his followers "I have no power but by he that sent me! I get my powers!! He is the son of "GOD" BUT!!! So are we! you follow!

Certainly it is correct to pray to God as in the "Our Father". And your Catholic friend is also correct. Look upon the "dead" as saying the "Our Father" for you to God. Why are you limiting their ability to pray for you in heaven? I cannot be sure there is anything in the Bible that says the dead can hear our prayers, but you do not need the Bible to tell you every little detail concerning the truth. Praying for the living and dead is reflected in the doctrine of "Community of Saints" which includes those in purgatory, heaven and earth.

Jesus is the Son of God and I don't see how your statement above actually argues for anything. You are trying to ridicule and degrade. So here is what I say. Those of us who have received Christ as our Savior have been made sons and daughters of the Most High. So that makes Him Jesus' Father as well as all believer's Father as well. OUR FATHER!

    I pray He blesses you...

Whether you realize it or not, He is actually using you for His purpose right now. Thanks for allowing Him to use you in that way.

Because God is everybody's Father spiritually and any believer in Christ is a brother/sister of Jesus.

He -taught- His Apsotles to pray this way. That is the way that normal people should pray.

Will you accept this thing I have told you, or will you continue to use this same lie, or perhaps you'll ask another question. That is fine, but I hope you get an honest reply.

The preface to the prayer reads "This is how you should pray"

    Note the "you".

The "Lord's Prayer" is a *example* of how to contruct of a prayer.

Well first of all that was when the disciples asked Him how they should pray. They did not ask Jesus how do You pray.
