How do you draw a relay?

I am familar with basic electronic symbols in diagrams but I am trying to figure out how to draw a SPDT relay. Currently I am showing it as a inductor and then to the right of it a SPDT switch. Is this ok or should I change it?

That's correct and the way they signify a resistor starting with the letter R, they usually signify a relay beginning with K So your first relay might be called K1.

Adding to that, it is also common practise to give the relay coil a capital letter, and then the same but small letter to the contact(s).

So if you have more than one relay in a diagram, people know which contact belongs to which coil.
