It's the closest thing you are going to hear to an admission of being wrong.

Yes, but he didn't say he was wrong. He said before that we were winning, and then said "we're not winning, we're not losing." He later said that, basically, he thinks we'll win in the end (this was in response to whether he had been wrong before). The we're not winning or losing is part of the rationale for sending in more troops. Seems backwards, to say nothing of the dog.

Here's coverage of the press conference:

"The first comment was done in this spirit: I believe that we're going to win. I believe that -- and, by the way, if I didn't think that, I wouldn't have our troops there. That's what you've got to know. We're going to succeed,' Bush said. "My comments yesterday reflected the fact that we're not succeeding nearly as fast as I wanted, when I said it at the time, and that the conditions are tough in Iraq, particularly in Baghdad."

But, he added: "I want the enemy to understand that this is a tough task but they can't run us out of the Middle East ... that's not going to happen."

Source(s): Oh, I'm sorry, you didn't care about what he said, just what you wanted him to say!

No he only admitted that he has to be a little more right. Like more troops, he thinks he was right in sending in what he did now he just needs to be a little more right by sending in more.
