I do both. Christmas Eve night, everyone opens only one present each, it is usually the present that we got for secret santa. Then on Christmas morning, really early in the morning, we open the rest....Merry Christmas!!!

Christmas eve, Because we've always had to go here or there for Christmas day and my folks didn't think it fair to have me open them and then have to leave. So we did it Christmas eve so I'd have time to play with the new things. I just continued it with my children and now grandchildren. Same reason though, we have to go to other families home for Christmas dinner.

Both. On Christmas Eve those of my family who live close come for a dinner and gift exchange. Then on Christmas Morning whichever of my children and grandchildren are here open our personal and Santa gifts. And either the Saturday before or after Christmas, my sister has a family Christmas party where all those who live farther away come home and share a meal and exchange gifts based on drawing names.

When I was growing up, my parents would choose a gift for us to open on Christmas Eve- usually ended up being a pair of pajamas or what have you like that. so I continued the tradition but my kids got fun stuff to open. Now my kids are grown except my daughter who i have to share with her dad. So this year we will be opening gifts on Christmas Eve.
