Generally they are scared and skittish even if you have them a long time. You are "big" and they are timy. Also Three Cats Family means she should be named "Dinner" because if anyone lets down the guard, dinner she will be. They are just sooooo cute though. Love her bunches and bunches.

These creatures are a mystery to me, but I do know one thing. Feed them veggies and regular pig food, water them, keep their cage clean and that's pretty much the basics. All that other stuff is extra, like holding them and their psychology and such. They're equally happy being held as they are eating an apple or whatever.

Unfortunately, there is a lot of misinformation out there about guinea pigs.

The following sites are the ones we send all of our adopters at our guinea pig and rabbit rescue to when they take home guinea pigs from us.

http://www.guinealynx.info/ - excellent dietary guide and medical guide

http://www.guineapigcages.com/ - how to build an appropriately sized cage for your guinea pig

http://www.cavyspirit.com/ - care guide and social guide (how to get your pig a friend so she won't be lonely, they're social animals!)

Source(s): - years of experience as a guinea pig rescuer - own six guinea pigs
