i think you should check what kind of jewerly she wears the most

and match that or ask her about other jewelry and see what she likes. like see if she likes a yellow gold or platum watch or chain and go off that

if you have to ask one of her girlfriends to ask her what she likes better when they go to the mall or somthing like that

just because platinum costs the most money dosent mean it is what she will want or like

I prefer platinum or white gold myself. Most people getting engaged these days choose platinum. I'm not really sure why, but it's more common than yellow gold. Yellow gold is so 80's. Out of the 6 couples that I know (who were married or engaged in the past 2 years), 5 of them chose platinum rings and the other couple picked white gold. Whatever you do, just don't 'do' yellow...
