Austin, Texas?

In March for Spring Break me and 2 of my best friends that I haven't seen in a long time, will be getting together in Ausin, TX. What are some fun things to do? Good bars with Live Music? Museums? Things you can only do in Austin? Hotels to stay at?

We are planning now, so we can save money. So any ideas will be great, thanks in advnace!

a great austin hotel to stay at that i try to get into when i am there is the austin motel. it is so much more than a motel. each room has a different theme and the whole place is just awesome. check into it early as it books quick. check out the stores on south congress, hangout at book people and whole foods. there are some other great shopping places right around there, too. hit up the hippie market (i call it that) over by the coop and jamba juice. i dont know if it will be warm enough, or if it even matters, but barton springs is there. head out to the oasis restaurant on lake travis around sunset, amazing! also, eat lunch at any place near zilker park. hit up 6th street after 9 or 10pm for the most people meeting. if you get a hotel downtown, be prepared to pay for parking no matter where you stay. but a bonus is that you dont have to chance driving home after 6th street, you can take a taxi or one of the bike carts. if you like history, the texas museum is really neat. roam the UT campus, it is really beautiful and has some cool stuff all over. before going, look up the museums at UT, namely the LBJ library, and see what exhibit is there. have a great trip, austin is an awesome town!

Sixth street is definately the place to go. Its a whole street filled with cheap, hip bars and live venues. During the spring there are a ton of free concerts and music shows to check out. Its the college hangout so it will be swarming with young students. It would be cheaper if you knew some friends there you could stay with, but there are many cheap hotels in decent areas. Visit the state capitol, its kinda a must. For real parties and fun, visit one of the many lakes. there are party boats in abundance. Look for things to do around campus, they are usually cheap and youth oriented.

    good luck and have fun!

Born and raised there. In my opinion the best city in the universe.

Go around the Capitol Square, and 40 Acres; the University of Texas campus. Just in that radius are some of the best unique shops, stores, cafes, you name it. I love Austin.

    Hook em' Horns.
