i think they should give kids a second chance. i know that kids do some stupid stuff. well i have at least and sometimes they are just with the wrong people and being at the wrong place at the wrong time. i think they should be rehabilitated.
i think the death penalty should be around for people who are pure heartless murderers and psychos like that

I have always had a problem with this aspect American "justice". I can not understand how we can justify labeling them as too immature to make their own decisions and can prevent them from making choices for their own life but the second they do something wrong charge them as an adult. It's a catch 22 that isn't fair or right. At the age of 16 they are not allowed any rights that an adult would have, they are not considered mature enough or responsible enough for their own actions to enter into a contract, join the military and fight for their country, in many areas they are not even of the legal age of consent for sexual intercourse, yet once they commit a crime they are considered mature enough? My personal opinion is that the laws should remain consistent. There should be a single age in which someone is considered an adult and that age should be the catch all with no exceptions. The US is already pretty screwed up in deciding that you can go to war and die at 18 but still can't drink alcohol it's just the way our system treats youth. I'm 27 now but I still remember how unfair it seemed when I was younger.
As far as the death penalty goes, well I don't want to really get started on my opinion on that(it makes me out to be too much of a liberal). I will say this though, most violent criminals who would be eligible for the death penalty are not thinking about the punishment when they commit their crime. These crimes are either crimes of passion or by people that are stupid enough to think they can get away with it. With that being said the death penalty is far from being a deterant, especially if the criminals are not thinking about the possible reprecussions during their crime. I know someone will probably get on here and say it prevents prison overpopulation and that we should use the death penalty because it's cheaper but the truth is we spend more money to kill a criminal than it costs to keep them alive for life in prison, and that prison overpopulation problem could end if the US changed it's policy on this so called "war on drugs". I think it's pretty sad when I know a person who is spending the next 20 years in prison for a drug charge and there is a guy working down the street from my house who has been convicted of child molestation 4 times and hasn't even served 10 years for all four convictions. I guess taking drugs is more harmful to society than molesting kids, I just hate how wrong our judicial system is today!
Sorry for the rant I will stop now before this becomes a book.

Yes, I support death penalty for ones that commit extremely violent crimes.
Remember, those who are in dealth row have killed others and quite often multiples, in most violent and vicious ways. I have hard time to believe those people are even human. My feeling is, some "mistakes" are just too great to forgive.
There are incredibly violent minors in this country. At age 16, kids know bad from good. Once again, some mistakes are just too serious to forgive even for minors, especially when they know or should have known such basic bad from good - like murder.
I do not care what England does. It's for people of England to decide. If you can rehabilitate and forgive them, and people of England agree that's the right way, you should.

I do not believe in the death penalty for minors. Sixteen-year-olds do not have anything like adult judgment or adult power of action. They don't really understand the trouble that psychoactive drugs can get them into or appreciate the way these drugs can remove their inhibitions in situations of anger, lust, or fear. Some of them have killed because they were at the mercy of evil and abusive adults. Indiscriminate application of the death penalty is uncivilized.

They are too young and dumb. I doubt if most have even reached the age of reason. Their economic situation has more to do with the way they think than anything else. Re- hab would seem to be worth a try. If they mess up again, send them away for life.

I support the death penalty. However, minors should be locked up for life for capital crimes. Mentally impaired people convicted of capital crimes should also not be executed but removed from society so they cannot kill again.

i think of at sixteen you're sufficiently old to be positioned to loss of life. you're sufficiently old to be attentive to actual from incorrect. As I reported in a prior question. once you're stumbled on accountable of homicide or a loss of life offense.they should take you immediately out of the court docket domicile and hung actual then. no longer one month or 25 years later. NO appeals no final meal no good bye's.
