Why do people take down their Christmas decorations before Christmas is over?
Everyone knows the song "The Twelve Days of Christmas." The 12th day of Christmas is either January 5th or January 6th, depending on how you count the dates. Yet people seem eager to throw away their trees and strip off the house lights before their true love can get to the turtledoves, nevermind the golden rings. Why is this?
December 25th is the *first* day of Christmas. Thus, the 24th is the "eve" of Christmas, i.e. the day whose evening is the start of the holiday, because days used to be considered to start at sundown. It's completely nonsensical (and provably incorrect) to think that December 25th is the 12th day: Shakespeare's play "Twelfth Night" doesn't occur on Christmas, it occurs at twelfth night, aka Epiphany or Three Kings Day. And how can Boxing Day be on the second day of Christmas if the 26th is the 13th day?

Because people are clueless. As demonstrated by the first answer. They also mistake Advent for Christmas itself, so by the time the actual holiday rolls around, their tree is dead, the lights are falling off the house, and they're sick and tired of looking at all the decorations they put up in September.

Because some people like to have things put away and the house neat again BEFORE going back to work and then having another Holiday which is suppose to be a celebration on its own without having the remains of a previous holiday still up,coming the very next weekend.

Many ppl with real Christmas trees get them right after Thanksgiving so the tree is very dry and withered by Dec. 26.

i've got heard some human beings bypass away them up until January 6th, the day of the bypass to of the magi. yet my family participants continually took them down plenty faster. each and every so often in the past the hot 365 days's, yet in many circumstances merely after the hot 365 days.
