Muslims - how many of you have renounced your faith?
And if so, why? Teachings of violence? Treatment of women?
Not necessarily a formal renouncement - I'm just looking for people that were taught the message of Islam, but don't agree. There are plenty of people raised Christian that question or deny some or all of what they were taught. I'm sure there are some muslims who have done the same.
Edit: To clarify, the two examples given above aren't accusations. Simply put, there seems to be a great deal of debate on the subject of exactly what the teachings of Islam contain. I want to hear, from the horses mouth, so to speak, if any muslims have turned from faith due to negative teachings, and if so, what those negative teachings were. It's a question, not a statement. I'm also not addressing what the Quran says. Just like the bible, what's taught isn't always what's written. I simply want to know who has turned from Islam, and why.

There is nothing that "teaches violence" in Islam. I am a Muslim woman and have never been treated with anything but respect. So I question where you are getting your information from. I found Islam over 2 years ago now and anyone who knows the true meaning of Islam feels and knows it is the true path. I do not pick and choose what suits me from my faith, that would be defeat the purpose of being a follower of that faith, wouldn't it? I trust in God and know if i follow his guidance that's the maximum I can do to please him. Which at the end of the day is what worshiping is about. I know plenty of Muslims and none of them would ever dream of renouncing there faith.
P.S. to Monochrome......if i choose to leave my faith, the only thing that will happen to me is Allah's judgment. There would be no one waiting to kill me and that is a fact like it or not. As a Muslim you have to worry about your own self as we all stand alone on judgment day. There is no compulsion in the religion it is a free submission to be a Muslim. Like your friend who asked the question your source of knowledge on Islam is a weak stereotype not the reality.

Hello, I just want to say that I have seen some of your answers and they really make so much sense. Why is it so hard for some people to see things clearly? I don't really have an answer to this question about Muslims and their faith, I just wanted to let you know that I think you have a great way of seeing things for what they really are.

those who will not accept God's Word through The Way prescribed by God do not fear losing their heads when they leave the teaching of The Faith without accepting it. No one who comest to God in The Way He prescribes ever leaves The Faith.
it is much harder for one who has been raised in the deception of islam to "leave"...and much more dangerous. Their mortal lives are literaly on the line.

good question, but i think it's important to understand the consequence if a muslim renounces. In sharia law it spells death. some will say it doesn't but that is just not reality in muslim states. I doubt you will get but a few honest responses
