Does anyone else find this offensive?

Just becuase I don't believe in YOUR dogma means I'm a non-believer?

    Everyone is a nonbeliever.

Do you believe in Christ? If not, then you're a nonbeliever.

Do you believe in Allah? If not, then you're a nonbeliever.

Do you believe in Kali? If not, then you're a nonbeliever.

    And so on.

"Nonbeliever" can be used as an insult as you point out. It can also be used factual. I use the term "nonbeliever" usually for people who don't believe in any religion. That kind of covers it. I prefer the term "nontheist," which eliminates confusion and cannot be construed as an insult.

Yes, I find it offensive. I think people use the word "non-believer" to be offensive and to set themselves apart from others. Even though people know that it is offensive, they still purposely use that phrase. Using the word "Non-Christian" wouldn't give them the opportunity to be arrogant. "Non-believer" today is what "Pagan" was several centuries ago.

all and sundry who fights and dies for this us of a is an American hero. usa is a place the place all religions and ideology are tolerated. those that provide their lives would desire to be respected as a results of fact freedom isn't unfastened and the cost is large! Many from all faiths have paid the ideal cost! despite transformations we would have in this us of a, we would desire to ALL carry expensive the blood that became shed to maintain us unfastened!

Uh...are you sure that when someone says non believer they aren't talking to people who are, well, non believers?

Other then that, some people just aren't too bright. I've seen plenty of Christians use 'non believer' when referring to everyone but Christians, as if the others (accept us atheists) don't believe when they do...

Just a guess, but they may say it because other than God - who knows what is in the heart of everyone, you can only really know what you believe, not what is in anothers heart.

    Context is everything!

  • Im a christian and i dont find it offensive, if they dont believe in somthing doesnt that mean they are non-believers?

AND Why do some CHRISTIANS use the term "non-believers" to include everyone but them?

    let's see here......

if you do not believe in the ONE TRUE LIVING GOD......

you are not a believer in the ONE TRUE LIVING GOD.....

    thus, a non-believer.

    what could be simpler?

But you can change that, my friend.

    God loves YOU!

    Jesus died for YOU!

May God someday open your eyes to the Truth.

"The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned." 1 Corinthians 2:14 (New International Version)

    Yes it does mean that.

Yes I suppose it's offensive, but it's just as offensive being told your going to hell because you don't believe in Jesus.

    Some christians do as well.
