No engagment ring yet, anyone else in the same boat?

Im on the same boat, ive been with my man for 3 years and ive been asking, and dropping hints, but he says that i dont need a ring or that we dont need to get married for me to know he loves me, it kinda makes sense but i feel like he is not fully committing to me just by not doing these things :(

I was really disappointed a couple years back when the guy I was living with gave me a gift the size of a ring for Christmas. I thought for sure it was a ring since we constantly talked about marriage. It was diamond earrings. I could have vomitted I was so disappointed. I ended up leaving him because he cheated the whole time we were together. Thank the heavens it wasn't a ring! Now, I'm four months pregnant and with a wonderful man whom I am not married to. I didn't even want to think about getting a ring, marriage is just a piece of paper. It doesn't matter if you love each other. I have told my man that I will not marry him until I know for sure it will last a lifetime and he is going to be a good father and husband. We've only known each other 2 years but it still isn't enough. I'll wait ten years if I have to. Wait patiently for the ring. There's no hurry. When and if he gives you one it needs to be because he wants to not because he feels pressured.

Rings are expensive; maybe he is saving up. Plus, choosing the right ring can be difficult. Besides all that, did you two ever talk about marriage? Perhaps you two are not on the same page about this.

i totally agree. he'd said he'd get one but couldn't get the $ in time. maybe valentines day. sigh.
