  • What to have fiance's Dad host other than rehearsal dinner?

My fiance's parents are divorced, over 20 years. Haven't spoken since the kids were old enough to work out visitation without the parents' involvement.

With that said, his mom lives real close to us, and is emotionally much more involved in the process and his (and my) lives. His mother has reserved the rehearsal dinner. Since she only has boys this is her big deal.

Then the other day my fiance spoke to his father (who lives about 1500 miles away). He mentioned something about planning a rehearsal dinner.

My fiance has spoken to his mother about this, and she'd rather not involve him, and he is going to respect her wishes. We were wondering if anyone has a suggestion as to something he can do or host the weekend of the wedding in order to be a part of the wedding.

**Note: We are getting married on a Sunday and the rehearsal dinner will be on a Friday.**

  • Is Invisilign worth it or should I just do Veneers?

I went to the dentist today and they told me to put Veneers on my front 6 top teeth would be about the same price as Invisilign.

    Which would you prefer?

The dentist says since I am 24 they would hate to grind down my original teeth, but then Invisilign could take over a year, easily.

  • Leftover Steak?

My b/f took me out to the best steak place last night. I had a great sirloin. Problem is that it was HUGE! Real thick (about 1", maybe more), and big. So I have a TON leftover.

I wanted to possible cut it into slivers and put them in pasta. Any ideas?

  • No engagment ring yet, anyone else in the same boat?

Sorry, I just needed a place to vent, and wanted to know if anyone here is in the same boat as me.

I was so dissapointed this Christmas when I didn't get a ring. I had a little bit of hope that I would get one then since my birthday is also on Christmas day. :(

  • MOH Speech?

    HELP!

I have to give a speech at my best friend's wedding Saturday. I want it to be fun and sweet (but not romantic and cheesy, not my style) any suggestions? (No poems please. I could not read that for my sake or the bride's, she'd kill me.)

FYI- My speech has to be good. Here's why. The groom's friends all decided they were going to quit on him about a week ago. He got some guys to fill in, but none close enough to give a speech. So I am the only one speaking. (Here is a link to the backstory: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;... )

  • Groomsmen gifts?

I am MOH in a wedding next week. The groom and the bride have no idea what to get the groomsmen as gifts, any ideas?

BTW, the groom is not terribly close to the groomsmen. The originals quit Sunday and are being replaced. Read this post for more info: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Agrfc...

  • Is it OK to be upset?

I have been w/my bf for almost a year. We have been friends for over 2. We live together, have dog, & have basically started a life together, etc. We ALWAYS get asked when we are going to get married.

The other day he sent an email out to his friends saying he had something HUGE going on Sunday that he can't wait to tell them about. Everyone assumed he was going to propose. He wasn't. He was launching his online comic. He told me that people were thinking he was going to propose and thought it was HILARIOUS; thinking I would have the same reaction. I didn't. It upset me.

We have had discussions about marriage, and he is a bit of a commit-o-phobe. His mom & step-dad have both been married 3 times, and his dad cheated on his mom (& left him & her 2 days before x-mas). I have the nuclear family. My parents have been married 25 years.

Am I right in being upset? From my perspective it felt like he was laughing at me. He apologized, but I don't think he gets it. What should I do?

  • What do you think?

My best friend is getting married in less than 2 weeks.

Her fiance and his groomsmen had been growing apart. (They were still stuck in the college drunkeness & he was ready to grow up & have a real job.) They kept telling him that he was throwing his life away, etc. & that he needed to go out and party. They would hit on my friend too.

Saturday they said they had planned his bachelor party. They took him to this bar& had some beers & watched some football. Then the bill came & they made him pay his own bill at his bachelor party. After that he decided to go home. Pretty shady, huh?

The next day the $hit hit the fan. They all got in a HUGE fight and the groomsmen pulled out of the wedding.

After this my friend & her fiance decided to ask other guys to be in the wedding, including my boyfriend. Now, he and my friend's fiance aren't real close, but I asked him really to do it as a favor to me. He doesn't have a problem with it.

What do you think about this?

  • Bachlorette suggestions?

I am MOH in a wedding that's in 2 weeks. We are supposed to have a bachlorette party on the 14th (a week before the wedding).

I am one of 3 bridesmaids in the wedding. One lives 500+ mi away and won't be in town until 2 days before. The other lives about 150 mi away and is afraid that she won't be able to get out of work 2 Saturdays in a row (She is trying, but is waiting to see the schedule.).

With that said I don't know who else to really invite to the bachlorette. The groom's sis is too young to come, 16. And that's all the female relatives that are anywhere near in age. I know the bride is thinking about asking one of her college friends to come, but is that enough?

I don't want to be a bad MOH and not have a great bachlorette, but I don't know what to do. (I can't change the date b/c I wouldn't be able to get off work.)

FYI- Here are the plans for that night. We are going to go downtown (STL) and just go drinking and give her a "scavenger hunt" to do.

    Any ideas?

  • Tension Headaches? Migraines?

am having the WORST headaches (over the past week or so). They extend from the crown of my head down my forehead and into my eyebrows (and do not feel like sinus headaches). My head feels like there is a HUGE weigh pushing on it. I assume they are migraines, or tension headaches from stress.

I have been trying to get enough sleep (8 hrs a night), and trying to relax (which doesn't happen much). I also try to eat right, but working so much doesn't give me much to cook.

Let me add that right now I am working about 8-12hrs a day 7 days/week, and don't have a day off until October 20th. So taking a day off is not an option. (And the upcoming days I have off are for a wedding I am in, so it's not like I can just lay and relax.)

I have taken Excedrin. Doesn't work.

    I have two questions:

    1) What's the difference between a tension headache and a migraine? Which do you think mine are?

    2) Any suggestions to alleviate them? (And no, I cannot take time off work. So that's not an option.)
