I want to trade my Ford Focus for a Honda CR-V. What do you think?

I realize I'm going from a little eco-box to a little suv. I'd probably want to take it off roading a little, though I realize it really isn't an off-road vehicle. There's really nothing wrong with the Focus, other than it is a little small and sometimes I think an 4WD or AWD would make sense during the snowy South Dakota winters.

My buddies all drive Ford F250s, but I don't want to spend $80 to fill the gas tank every week. The wife wants an minivan, though I think that it would be too big of a vehicle 90% of the time. Plus, I hate the whole minivan soccer mom image.

Update:

Right, maybe a bigger car than a CR-V might be better, but what car balances price, fuel economy, reliability, snow/mild off road drivability better?

I think you should go for it!

If it is gas as opposed to enjoying the off road, you cannot put a price on enjoyment (at least not this price).

Plus, Honda is a great thing, and the CR-V is not that big car so you sort of get to enjoy both sides of it (not being a MAJOR fuel taker). Anyway, go and have fun with it!

What year is the Focus? They do make good rental cars, but the CR-V is a lot better at fuel efficency.

You may not get a lot of $$ off the Focus, but it would be worth the price for a CR-V
