Potty training suggestions?
My daughter is 19 months old, and is doing pretty well with the potty. She hates being wet/dirty so that helps. Any suggestions as how to get her to tell me she needs to go or will that just come on its own later? (sometimes she says "peepee" and runs to the potty, but she's already gone in her diaper)
Well, I used the word "she" so that means it's a girl...lol..

Two of my children potty trained at 18 months so it sounds like your daughter's ready. My suggestion is to go out and let her pick out some "big girl panties". She'll love it.
Whenever you are at home, keep only panties (or nothing) so that she can "feel" it more. Trust me, if she's anything like my daughter was, she will not like peepee on Dora or Barbie. I used to tell her that Dora doesn't like peepee on her so she needs to go in the potty.
Yes, you will have lots of accidents the first week or so but it'll get better if she already that advanced.
Also, let her go in the bathroom when you go and explain to her how she needs to do everything, as you do it.
I'm not a big fan of rewarding with food or candy, but I hear it works well with older children.
Good Luck!

That is good that she is saying pee pee even if she has already went. She is associating the word with the action. When I started potty training my twin girls I did not use pull ups do to them knowing they were diapers and went in them anyway.I used panties although kind of hard to find 2t-3t that is the smallest i have found be sides regular training panties in the infant department.Any ways I took them about every 30 min for about four days strate. Then I had to go back to work>but after that about once an hour.Except when they slept they wore diapers, they were potty trained with in three weeks but it took a little while for them to start to tell me they had to go.

it's just a case of learning to hold it in until you get to the right place, make sure the potty is already out in the room she is in , keep it in the middle of the room so it's easier to get to also dont put diapers on in the house, keep her in a pair of knickers they are easier to get off then diapers. also give he lots of praise when she does manage to get to the potty. never show your disappointment when she doesnt because this will just put her off. also at certain times of the day. when she wakes up before she goes to be have her sit on the potty whether she needs to use it or not, just for 10 minutes, distract her with a toy if she wont sit down, and more then likely at one of these times she will have weed in the potty.

do u have a boy or girl? There are very diverse ways that you train each sex. My lil boy learned by me throwing fruitloops in the potty and aiming at em. my lil girl got a peice of candy for just siting on the potty 1 week. The next week she got candy for actualy peeing in it.

I HAVE WORKED IN A PRESCHOOL ROOM FOR YEARS WITH TODDLERS. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE CHILDREN DON'T TEND TO LEARN TO TELL YOU THEY NEED TO GO POTTY UNTIL THEY ARE ALMOST 3. SO JUST KEEP HIM OR HER ON A REGULAR SCHEDULE FOR GOING ON POTTY AND SHE WILL DO FANTASTIC!

She is still really young. So don't push it. Right now it's a game to her and it's fun. The more you praise her when she does go the more she'll want to go. Keep asking her if she has to go but ultimately when she is totally ready, she'll let you know.

most children know when they have to go, have the potty closer to where she is at so she can actually make it

try putting blue food coloring in the toilet then when the child pees the water will turn green
