What is a fair rate to pay a contractor who is working on a foundation?

REMEMBER the contractor has the knowledge to do the work. He not only pays his employees, has insurances, vehicles, taxes, office staff, advertising costs and other overhead. Have the company show you proof of insurance so that if somehting happens, their insurance will cover it.

You are dealing with a company, not a couple of workers. the rates sound reasonable to me.

You have an OPTION. Locate a person that will do the work cheaper, has no insurances etc. If that person has an accident on your property and gets hurt the responsibility is YOURS. I wonder which is the cheapest!!!!

A hundred an hour for a man with a truck and a helper is cheap. A hundred dollars per man hour is a little pricey simply for laborers, but might be reasonable for skilled men with tools on a difficult or dangerous job. Pay the price if you want the job done. I doubt that the hourly rate will be negotiable.

You never give a contractor an option, have him/her write out a proposal, you check out the figures, if the price is doable then jump on it but never in your life eccept an hourly rate, you will be broke!!!!!!! one set price and thats it!! for what you're range might be since the foundation is old, depending on what you can afford, 15 to 20,000 should cover it.
