how can I tell if my parakeet is a boy or a girl?

Male parakeets have a colored "nose" above his beak. It is usually blue or bluegreen.

The female does not have any color in her "nose". It will just be a similar color to her beak.

Also, you can tell how old your parakeet is by how close the black "rings" are to their "nose". The closer those black rings are to the nose or beak, the younger the bird.

We have a parakeet if the nostrils right above the beak are "bright" it's most definitely a boy.

If the colours are more of a "dull" colour then it's most defiantly a girl.

Just above the beak,right between the eyes and slightly below them,are a pair of nostrils covered in flesh. If it is brown,it is a female. If it turns blue or another 'bright' color,it is a male.

you can have it surgically sexed (the doc cuts it open to see which organs are present), or do a DNA test. The DNA test is newer, easier, and cheaper. they take a small blood sample and test it. you get results in a week or so.

Sometimes you can guess the sex based on behavior, but that is not very accurate, and you really need to know what you are doing.

Normally, the only reason to determine the sex of a parrot is if you want to breed them.

if the beak is blue you have a boy ,,,,if its yellow you have a girl

Its sorta kinda of hard they havent figured it out but if you ask your vet she might help

my the beak if its purple its a girl and blue means guy thats wat the petstore sales man told me!
