A question about quitting smoking and not gaining weight?
I quit smoking 7 days ago after having this habit for 13 years. I am using the patch and it is working good. My question is for those who did quit, what did you do to either not gain weight or minimize the weight gain?

Exercise, even if that means only walking. Suck on sugarless hard candy. Drink more water than you usually do. Eat low fat or fat free when you do eat. Stay away from burgers and fries and KFC and if you drink a soda, make it sugar-free, or diet coke. Good going girl, keep it up...it only gets easier with each passing hour so the hardest part is behind you. I smoked for 30 years and next month I will be smoke free for 5 years.

First off, congradulations, your doing something extremely good for your overall health!
The only reason people gain weight when they quit smoking is because they replace one bad habit with another (replace smoking with eating unnecessary amounts of food). Just stick to eating like you do normally and you'll be fine.
Do as Forest said above. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables when your craving extra food.
Good luck and stick with it! You can do it!

I kept veggies around for when I got the munchies and craved something higher in calories.
