I would stay away from PG County. Look into Howard or Montgomery. If you're in customer care, try Baltimore County. Better paying jobs and opportunities. I work and live in Owings Mills (Baltimore County/West) and LOVE IT! I have family in PG county....terrible!
Click below and the location of your job search is "Owings Mills".... an ex-Visa employee went to Toyota Financial making close to $20 an hour...entry Customer Service Agent. At ADP, they too start pretty high.

I live in Montgomery County, not far from PG. The cost of living varies depending on where you live. PG is a very diverse county. It has it pluses and minuses of course, and some areas like in any big city (Washington DC suburb) can be dangerous. They are "rebuilding" PG county. A ton of facelifts going on. For example, to live in a decent area, near metro, shopping, etc., you should plan on a salary of $40-50K to be comfortable and have an affordable rent. Not sure if you are buying, if so, a mortgage roughly of 1600 per month should get you a nice house. If you are sharing a house, $500-800 per month, including utilities. Baltimore is about the same, in price and in nice/bad areas. Baltimore would probably be a haul for visiting DC more so than PG county, check out Annapolis, Anne Arundel counties also, near the Bay, beautiful area.

Just a little history lesson to think about. Why did the North beat the South? The Southerners were better shots. The reason was the infrastructure. The North had the gun manufacturers and the ability to supply the troops. Fast forward to today. The Eastern and Northern United States are legislating all of the major firearm manufacturers South. Were they say the dumb Hillbillies are. Fact is major industry is all going South. Less taxes, better climate and guess what a thriving infrastructure for business. Now Gun industries are being pushed there by laws. So you have skilled labor, lower taxes, better climate, good infrastructure and now jobs being forced South. Next you will be hearing the North crying about employment dropping and needing more tax dollars to support the unemployed.

Be careful, parts of PG county are a dump. I attended college at UMD and lived in college park. During my time there I did notice the decline of the surrounding area.
Place to possibly Avoid in PG: College Park, Hyattsville, Capital Heights, District Heights.

I live in PG county as well. It's really variable. There are some really nice parts, like greenbelt and laurel, but there are also some really sketchy parts, like upper marlboro.
If you are going to be working in Baltimore, you are probably better to be looking in Anne Arundel or Howard Co. They will be closer, and since they are furthur from Washington, they tend to be a little more affordable (well, except the Howard Co mega-mansions). Try looking in Ellicott City or that area.

I grew up in PG County. First around Temple Hills, then in Clinton. It's gotten bad and would never move back there. I live in Mont Co. now. Alot more expensive, but closer to work.

Move to either Howard or Montgomery County instead. PG County is getting to be very dangerous--the murder rate there is higher than it is in DC now.
Montgomery and Howard Counties are still very diverse, if that's what you're looking for, but are much safer.

Prepare to starve.
DC area is VERY expensive.
Get a job with a property management company...at least then you'll get a housing discount.
