What is the purpose of this forum? Are we just bored with life?

It seems that religious and non-religious people alike come here daily to ask silly questions to get even sillier responses. Few seem genuinely sincere and open-minded to intelligent opinions and mainly want to justify their static positions. So in that light, what does supporting this faceless forum say about the state of our society and us as individuals?

From time to time there are legitimate questions. While a quite a few just want to proselytize and be childish, it provides a nice reality check on the reality of what's out there in the minds of other humans. Okay it's a reality check but it's not "nice". What does it say about the state of our society? We think our opinions are the only ones that are right and we feel the need to shove them off on others to make them agree so that we can justify our own positions even further...thereby fulfilling the need to prop our own ego up.

I came over here cause there are lots of folks out there who ask genuine questions.

However, in the grander scheme of things, there is nothing wrong with poking fun at ourselves and having a good time.

So, yea, some of the questions may seem silly. But to respond gives you two things. One is obvious - 2 points. The other may not be obvious till you sit for a moment and actually notice - the smile on your face.

So, relax, pull up a chair, sit for a few minutes and answer some serious question. And smile a the silly ones, even make a comment and get a few extra points for laughing.

First of all, this forum is NOT intended for the exchange of opinions. IT is supposed to be a place to find factual information.

Like "what is the primary religion of France?", or "How Many Muslims live in Rome?". Not "Will Christians and Muslims ever see eye to eye on anything?" or "If the earth is really only 6,000 years old, doesn't that make God a really wicked, twisted SOB for making it look like it's so much older?"

It SHOULD be a safe place to ask honest questions.

But too many childish people who prefer profanity over intelligence who prefer insults over common courtesy have ruined this site.

I'm here because I enjoy talking about religion. I'm sure that most of the other regulars here, to some extent, feel the same way. There really isn't much else to it.

I don’t have any kids in the house anymore, constantly asking me questions. I have to do something. It’s too chilly to do the work I should be doing outside.
