The next Paul "Bear" Bryant?

I don't think there can be. Remember that Bear Bryant prospered in an age of true disparity in college football, when teams like Alabama could stock their team with A-level recruits and bench them for four years, all so that other teams couldn't get them. Now, scholarship restrictions make that impossible.

I agree that Tuberville has potential. He's really a steady Eddie type.

The right will feign outrage over this story, but there is nothing really new. It has been written about for 3 years. If Rosen never suspected that he was under investigation then perhaps he should find a new job because he wouldn't be much of a reporter. And by the way, the first amendment is not an absolute. Reporters are given a lot of latitude, but they can violate the law and can be prosecuted.

Tuberville is not worthy to be mentioned in the same sentence with Bear Bryant. That's why he is stuck with pointed cowboy boots instead of a classic checkered hat.

As far as infamous, I'd say Woody Hayes of Ohio State fits that description. The "Bear" might have beat his kids during practice, but I never remember him punching an opposing player on the field as Woody did. Ahhhhh, the good old days.

I would have to guess Urban Myer. He led Utah to a near championship and now is leading Florida to a championship bowl win(Ihope). if he stays in college he could be the next Paterno, Bowden and Bryant all rolled into one. They may even call him Urban "Gator" Myer.
