Have you ever given a great answer and it gets a thumbs down? How is this answer bad?

This has happened to me before, but I'm beginning to get annoyed. I'm not sure if the asker gave me a thumbs down or somebody else. If it was the asker, then how could he say it was a bad answer, especially compared to the other two? Take a look: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=200701...

Update:

I hear you, mommyismyname.

It just happened again!!! I put thought and time into answering another question and it got a thumbs down. When people ask a question, I can see that they only want one viewpoint and nothing else, because if you go to give another viewpoint, it gets a thumbs down.

Update 2:

One time I answered a question about whether or not a certian TV show was filmed in front of a studio audience or not. I gave the right answer and cited TWO sources. I STILL got a thumbs down.

Update 3:

Another question was about how do TV shows know how many viewers they have. I told her all about the Neilson rating system and gave also gave a link. I got 3 thumbs down for that one. Am I the wrong one?

Anyone who is at level two on answers can give your question a thumbs up or a thumbs down, so it could be the person asking the question or it could be anyone else really. I often like to give a thumbs up to the answers i think are the most informative. I try not to give a thumbs down unless the person is giving absolutley the wrong information or is being rude or combative. Not everyone takes giving thumbs up and thumbs down seriously though, or they do it because they disagree with youre opinion. Try not to let it get you down.

Well, it could have been because it sounds like you just quoted a book instead of trying to share what you actually know. It was very long, and didn't get into the actual things you would do *in* the classroom.

anyway, people don't use thumbs down the way you're supposed to, it supposed to be for answers that don't answer the question, or that are ignorant or not based in fact. Lots of people just use it to disagree with an answer, even if it might be legitimate in so far as it's an opinion question.

Anyhoo, don't take it personally...just realize that you don't know those people, they don't know you, and it's not a reflection of who you are or your knowledge base.

I clicked on the link, and looked at what your screen name was during the loading process (slow connection) and then I was there. Immediately I saw why you got a thumbs down! Answer too long!! The internet user has an average attention span of 3 seconds.

That happens to me all the time! Typically in the religious and political questions because I'm apperantly in the minority being a conservative Christian...now we're the "weirdos"!
