I am a conservative Christian mother of three. I don't hate Bush, although I don't agree with everything he's done. My brother is in the Navy. He is currently serving in Iran, so I take it personally when people make negative comments toward America's soldiers...they're only doing their job. They have a boss too. I believe in God, although I don't have all the answers. I admit I have questions too, but my faith overrides always.

  • Dog question?

We had someone suggest we put some straw down in our dogpen to help our dog not get so muddy when it rains. My husband thinks straw is a bad idea because if our dog pees/poops in it he says it creates a breeding ground for mold and bacteria. His parents are dog breeders who say the same thing. I'm curious though, what about mulch or something? Anyone have opinions/ideas on what we could do?

  • Do you ever wonder if the end is near?

I've thought about all of the natural disasters like the tsunami, hurricaine Katrina, the massive tornadoes, flooding..etc. Then there's the health issues, economic issues..it all seems overwhelming and scary. I wonder if it's just because I'm young in the world of politics and the media. I don't know if maybe there's been reports of these terrible things for years and I'm just now seeing them or if it's actually worse than ever before? I'm usually a very positive person, and don't get me wrong, I have no political motivation for this question. I'm just curious what your opinions are reguarding the things going on in our world today. Is it worse than before, or do you think it's getting scary too?

  • ADHD in a 3 year old?

I have a 3 year old who has been what I considered an "active" toddler. In recent months she has been getting worse than ever. Constantly doing SOMEthing! She doesn't go to sleep until after midnight and she'll be up before 5am getting into things while we're sleeping. I'm worried about her because she has gotten into some things (like fingernail polish) and she has also recently been "running away" when we aren't looking. I'm running out of ideas with her. I've tried a calming bedtime routine. I've tried helping her "vent" her creativity into activities like fingerpainting and puzzles...but she just doesn't want to stay in one place for more than a couple of minutes. I have 2 other children and neither of them are anywhere NEAR as difficult to keep track of as my 3 year old. Can 3 year olds have ADHD or a type of hyperactive disorder? I really don't want to medicate her, but I'm running out of ideas for controlling my little "wild child". Help!

  • Hypothetically...let's say that the troops are removed from Iraq?

and 1 year later there is another terrorist attack on the United States like on 9-11. Say we pull out and try talking and bargaining and it doesn't work either. What then, would you propose we do?

  • Did you know...?

if you know that you're going to have 3 meals a day for the next week, you have a warm bed to sleep in, and you could come up with a $1000.00 if you had to...you're richer than 83% of the world? Just an interesting thing I learned recently that I thought I'd pass on.

  • Is medication right for my situation?

My husband is in the military and he's leaving me for 8 months in August. We have 3 small children. I recently started a new job. For the last couple of months I've been having frequent panic attacks. I stay up later than I ever used to at night because my brain won't "shut off". I'm worrying, thinking, planning, praying... I have a hard time doing my work and even day to day things because I'm so focused on the things I'm worried about. I've thought of going to the doctor, but worry she'll prescribe me anti-depressants or something. I don't know if that's what I need? I really SHOULD be anxious and scared.. but I do hate how it's taken over me so much.

  • What is Blu-ray?

Does it require a different kind of player than a DVD player? They are saying new movies are out on DVD and "Blu-ray"...what the heck is that?!

  • Do you think the media talks too much?

The news reports are grim when it comes to the war and how we are doing. Don't you suppose they are watching this in Iraq and isn't it probably encouraging to them to see how little success we've made each day and how many lives have been lost? Do you think maybe if the media for just one day got excited and proclaimed the soldiers did a GREAT job today...they are true heros....we are so proud, maybe we could actually put a little fear into the terrorists? Is it possible that pure American negativity is fueling THEIR war against us?

  • If you were President, what would your plan for the war be?

Please answer seriously...not just "get the hell out of there"....HOW, and WHY, and even consider the "what if's". For example, let's say we do pull out of Iraq and the Persian Gulf and they manage another 9/11. Then what? I don't have any answers, I'm just curious about yours.

Is it common for women to have multiple orgasms during sex or is it just something guys made up?

  • Night terrors?

My 18 month old has been waking up at night crying, but it's only for a few seconds and then she's back asleep. She repeats this all night, and usually wakes up about 3:30 am and stays awake for an hour or so. She seems very restless and I wondered if "night terrors" could be to blame. I had them when I was very little, but is 18 months too little for them?

  • Would you baptize your child because of your in-laws?

I am a Christian. My husband came from a strict Catholic family, but (by his own will) decided to convert to my faith, (I belong to the United Church of Christ). Our faith believes that baptism of babies isn't necessary, but they do it sometimes for parents who wish to. My in-laws insist that my baby will go to hell if she isn't baptized, but I don't believe that at all. If we do go ahead with the baptism, it's only for for them, not me or even my child...so would that be wrong? What would you do?

  • To have or not to have a big family?

My husband and I have three small children right now. We have no plans to have a fourth child in the near future, but we debate the issue already. My husband is absolutely sure he wants a fourth... maybe even a fifth. We support our children ourselves..no food stamps, stuff like that. We have a big house, with two parents and lots of love. I'm just not sure my body and sanity could handle any more children! I love meeting the miracles we create, and I used to agree with my husband and wanted 4 or 5 children. Now that I am living in reality with three, I don't know how I could handle any more of them! Anyone else have a big family? How do you do it?

  • Do Catholics really believe...?

that a baby who isn't baptized will not make it to heaven? Personally, I have trouble with this for so many reasons. First, I've suffered a miscarriage and cannot stand to think that my baby isn't with God now. Second, when I think of the horrible "mothers" who toss their babies into the garbage..for example, I can't imagine that after they suffered their entire little lives, God wouldn't scoop them up into his very own arms and welcome them into heaven. He isn't a "vengeful" god. He is forgiving, and a baby has NO say in whether or not they are baptized.

  • Why are athiests so mean to Christians?

When a question is asked, what's with all the name calling. Someone just asked for some good Christian music bands and so many people came in and made fun of her! It makes me furious to see so many people talk about ME shoving MY religion down other people's throat when I see so much Christian bashing on here!

  • Why do Athiests hang out in the "religious" section of Answers?

If you don't believe in God or Jesus or the Bible, why do you care about the questions and answers in the religious section? Are you on a mission to "convert" the believers?

  • If Jesus is just a "man" who lived and died...?

then why are non-believers worried about fighting Him if He comes back? You want a chance to fight Him and yet, you either do not believe He existed in the first place, or you believe he is merely a man like you and I. It'd be pretty amazing for "just a man" to be raised from the dead..AGAIN, first of all.

  • In a question about when Jesus comes back, asked by a "non-believer"...?

MANY supposed "non-believers" talked about fighting Him...and how by saying this, they confessed to believing He came ONCE already. By that, you are admitting that you believe in Jesus. Hmm?

  • Discipline for an 18 month old?

My 1 1/2 year old is very "trying" lately. She is the middle child already, which I anticipated would be hard for her. She has a 5 year old sister who was sooo easy compared to her now that I look back :) and a 4 month old sister who was born pre-maturely and needs some special care. I expected for my older children to need some adjustment time after the baby. I am a stay at home mom and try hard to spend special time with each of my children. Of the three, my 18 mo. old absolutely requires the most attention. She knows where/how to find trouble and goes strait for it! I am frustrated because I'm not sure if she's doing this for attention or if she's doing these things because she's been getting away with it for so long. I sat her in 3 brief "time-outs" yesterday, but felt so guilty over it. I am wondering if anyone else has dealt with a similar situation and maybe had some advice?
