After bunion surgery, what happens to the pins?

I had a bunion surgery in July. I have a pin in each foot. What happens to the pin? Is that why I can't flex my toe like I used to?

i work for a podiatrist and have also had the surgery, and from what i have seen/heard the pins stay in forever unless they give you a problem. it is possible for them to work their way out of the bone, if that happens surgery will be needed again but i'm not sure if they just take it out or replace it. now with flexing the toe i have the same problem. i can't wear any heels anymore. i was told that i didn't do the stretching exercises enough after i got out of the cast.

    Bunion Surgery With Pins

Not sure about bunions, but I had wrist surgery about 20 years, and still have the three pins inside, so I would assume that they stay forever, unless problems need them to be removed.

I had to exercise my wrist for a long time, to ensure maximum movement was achieved long term. I was originally told I would only get between 0% and 25% movement back, but I worked at it and got about 50%. I suggest the same for the toe.

I now need to find out how much bunion surgery is for my wife.
