How to deal with harrassment in the workplace?

I work at a bar with a woman who seems to have it in for me. When I started 9 mos. ago, she began with implying to customers that I was a "bar slut". Then turning into "my being lazy" and the latest....."I'm a thief". I have talked with my bosses several times and went as far as to write a 3 page letter to them about the problems. Now just to clairify how bad this is......I have to deal with her loud mouth every Friday night for 9 hours strait and then hear all the horrible things she's said in the 4 days I'm off. It's gottten very hard keep my cool. I'm sure this has affected my tips as well.

The kicker.....she gets paid cash and isn't really a legal employee to begin with. She commits fraud every week when she calls her unemployment in.

How do I deal with this garbage when my bosses won't?

Don't put up with it any longer. Make a stand and say you will not be excepting this behavior. If this type of behavior continues you actually have a legal recourse and that is when you seek advice from an attorney.

This is totally unacceptable you have rights and not to be harrassed is very much one of them. Firstly report the old cow to benefit fraud. Secondly you can go the citizens advice bureau. As you have only been there 9 months you can be dismissed easier than if you had been there over a year but you have done the right thing putting it in writing. do you get on with your bosses and do they seem reasonable? If they are sit down with them and advise what is happening.

First deal with the woman by reporting her , anonymously, to the authorities that pay her.

Secondly try and ignore her and do your job to the best of your ability.

The other alternative is to look for work elsewhere.

Also follow the advice given above in regard to contacting the site on harassment, try www.worksafe.gov.au also they have policies in place regarding this it's called Workplace Bullying.

Although it's an Australian site it still will give you ideas and links to your country if not in Oz. Good Luck and try not to let it get you down there's always people like this in life.

you do no longer describe particular situations. you're saying that it somewhat is frightening on your woman pal, possibly it somewhat is. A supervisor or boss won't knowingly enable actionable pastime to proceed as this could reveal them besides. Your pal ought to strengthen thicker epidermis, seek for a flow interior the employer, and tape checklist the conversations she has together with her coworker and together with her boss. The latter is reported provided that criminal the place you reside. interior the intervening time she ought to do the final job she would be able to and be friendly. This sounds greater like a character conflict than something nefarious. in the journey that your pal does at last usher in good shape, she ought to understand that she will have the skill to ought to get employment someplace else. companies will locate a thank you to fire workers who sue them.

Quit being such a baby! You work at a bar for crying out loud; what kind of people do you expect to be working there?! Just let it roll off your back, because otherwise you are empowering said woman and she will tear even deeper knowing that she has that power over you.

Be confident and smart. Whenever she complains, request your boss to intervene to find the truths. If your boss has deaf ears, then start finding faults of the garbage and start complaining more severely. Now days the people who lives in glass houses throw more stones to others so that they don't have the time to attack you.
