To the best of my knowledge, they are called wisdom teeth because they come out at the time one's supposed to have acquired some wisdom. Couldn't say for sure, but facts and common sense oftentimes contradict there's a connection between these teeth and wisdom and/or intelligence. Quite the opposite, in many instances, but I could be wrong.

It's wise to get them removed so your mouth doesn't hurt.

They are generally thought to be called wisdom teeth because they appear so late—much later than the other teeth, at an age where people are supposedly wiser than as a child, when the other teeth erupt. The English wisdom tooth is derived from Latin dens sapientiae.

Turkish language refers directly to the age at which wisdom teeth appear and calls it 20 yaş dişi (20th year tooth). In Korean, its name is Sarangni( love teeth) referring to the young age and the pain of the first love.

    Hope this helps....:)

Wisdom teeth, specifically, are connected to the heart and intestine meridians. Is it no wonder that chronic illness in both of these organs are on the rise? Of course there may be other contributing factors to these chronic health issues, such as diet, but wisdom teeth extractions, as well as the residual cavitations at the extraction site, may also be contributing to these systemic health conditions. It is also not uncommon to have some ear issues (hearing problems, vertigo) or even nerve damage (paraesthesia) after wisdom tooth extraction.

Wisdom teeth are called that because people usually get them in around the ages of 17-21. Seeing as how the other adult (permanent) teeth stop growing in around age thirteen thus wisdom teeth growing in later in life would account for the name. Though I don't see how the ages of 17-21 can be considered the time of wisdom. Usually on the contrary. Life experience later is when we gain much more wisdom.

but then again, maybe I wouldnt be able to tell!

seriously, they have nothing to do with wisdom, it is just a name

They appear at an age when one has some wisdom, rather than babyhood... and your brain does not stop growing. You will be fine.

    if "wisdom comes from experience",

then yes, you'll be wiser after experiencing your wisdom teeth.
