My cat keeps getting sick and I don't know how to help her?

My cat I have had for 13 years. She is Simease, weighs about 6 or 7 lbs give or take some. She was so underweight this summer it really scared me. She has been throwing up her food for a couple of years now. At first I just thought that it was because of a hairball but then I realized that it was her food. I started buying her Sensitive Stomach by Science Diet, and it seems to be helping a little. But today she threw it up she hasn't in awhile, and I don't know what else to do. I think maybe she's eating too fast or prehaps its just a hairball. I have given her canned food and before she couldn't even keep it down at all ever, and now she hasn't gotten sick off of it, the kind I gave her was Science Diet Hairball control. She seems to be digusting it ok.

Should I keep giving her canned food or should I change her dry food again?

Also, is there a food that helps with digestion that is cheap? I can't afford paying 9 or 10 dollars for a small bag of Science Diet cat food every 2 weeks

Update:

2 weeks or less sometimes, and I just am wondering if I can find a food that is cheap but does the same thing for digestion.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Update 2:

I can not afford to take her to the vet, and the last time I did everything checked out fine. No kidney or blood diseases nothing wrong on the inside I had extensive blood work done on her about a year ago.

Update 3:

Please Do Not Tell Me to take my cat to the vet, I know that is what I should do but I can NOT afford to right now. Please Answer my questions Thank You

Update 4:

The size of the bag is about 4 lbs I do believe, I feed her in a small dish, once a day usually in the morning, because she doesn't eat that much.....I haven't changed her food in awhile, because it seemed to be helping til today, someone mentioned purina one, well my cat doesn't like that, I've tried it, I've tried alot of brands with her, she doesn't like purina, she doesn't like iams, both make her sick.

I appreciate those that have answered my question and have not told me that I need to take her to the vet, I'm not saying I won't ever take her, I just need to help her til I can get some money to take her. Oh and by the way when I took her to the vet about a year ago, I took her to two vets, that's all we had were we lived and both of them said nothing was wrong. She went in for a physical exam, because of her eye, she's blind in one eye.

You mentioned that you think your cat may be eating too fast, and that's quite possibly what's making her sick. This happened to a friends' dog, and the solution was quite simple. All they had to do was place an object in the middle of the food bowl so the dog had to work around it to get to the food. This slowed him down enough that he stopped being sick. It's good that you're putting her on food for her sensitive stomach, and I would try to stick with what you have, as switching brands will probably only make her sick more often. I hope you can find a solution!

It could be that your cat is allergic to an ingredient in the food. You may need to put her on a low allergen diet. This is only a guess. Also, it's not good to keep changing her food. This could be causing more problems than it is helping. I know you don't want to hear it, but you need to take her to the vet.

Also, how much are you feeding? If you only have one cat, then going through a small bag of food in 2 weeks seems excessive. Of course, you did not mention the exact size of the bag. I have one cat and buy the 8 Lbs. bag which lasts at least 2 months, if not more.

Please i beg of you take your cat to the vet , i am an animal lover not a vet but even i can see there is some thing not quite right.

There is another kind of food that you can buy for sensitive tums it is called, Purina One i give it to my lad every morning, there is also [ Iams dry food ] you could even put a little flax seed oil in with its food about a teaspoon is more than enough, that aids the digestion +it is good for the bones.

If you take puss to the vet it is better to pay a small amount then later on be hit with a whopper of a bill, and remember puss cant tell you what is wrong.

I wish you both the best of luck

Source(s): Super markets sell Iams cat food and + Purina One[ it is dry food ] and always make sure there is fresh water next to the bowl

If you think it might be hairballs she might not be getting enough fibre in her diet. Try cat grass. I have two indoor kitties and give them a small amount of grass a day to help them with hairballs. Make sure u get the grass from stores that u can grow, or cut some out of ur yard which u know for sure no pesticides or herbicides have been used on. Home grown catnip will work too.The is a tube of thick malty flavoured stuff u can get from stores as well for hair balls called hairball remedy. Cats love this. This is just something to help u out with but if she still is getting sick--You need to take her to the vet, as a caring cat owner.

If your cat is having repetitive problems with hairballs this could be causing constant throwing up. When we had cats we would give them a small amount of margarine to eat. It is supposed to help them pass the hairball. Just enough for your cat to lick off your finger. Try it once or twice and see what happens.

Also if you believe hairballs to be the problem, try brushing your cat daily with a good brush. They have special brushes for removing excess cat hair. The more you remove by brushing, the less your cat swallows. Hope this helps.

My suggestion is to call your vet and ask them about the food. I would keep feeding her the canned if she is keeping it down. But I would also leave some dry food down for her to nibble on. Do they make lamb and rice for cats? If so maybe you can try that, I think that is good for older animals and easier on the digestion. Ask your vet what kind of food he would recommend that is not quite as expensive. Hopefully he can help. I wish you luck and I hope your baby feels better soon.

Unfortunatly the only responsible answer is to take your cat to the vet, if it were a child you would have taken it to the ER by now money or no money.

As a pet owner it is your responsibilty and duty to take proper care of it and that means if it has been ill for years take it to a vet and if that doesnt work get a secound or third opinion.

That cat can not fix it's self and it is depending on you its owner to help it... if you can not afford this animal you need to find it someone who can and will care for it properly. When I got our pets I knew it was a lifelong comitment that will take money and time, but that is the responsibilty I accepted upon welcoming that animal into my home, they are not disposible items, that once you can not longer afford it you can justify letting it suffer to death.

If it were a child, you would be in jail, if animal control were to find out, you would lose that animal and be fined.

this could be happening because of changing weather...thats what happends to my cat so try to keep it in a neutral temp that is not too hot or cold. also change its water twice a day and only put little food at one time. make sure to dump the old food, wipe its bowl and put new food in. also to note is that as long as it is only vomitting food, it is not a big problem and is probably not a serioud problem so the vet probably won't be able to tell you anything special that u can't figure out yourself. try to avoid canned food and try to feed it dry food as much as possilbe and also make sure it has fresh water most of the time.

You should take your cat to the vet because the vet might be able to give your cat something so she'll never throw up again.

It sounds like your car it having stomach problems and you should take it to the vet asap and see what the vet says some tests might be taken to determine what the problem might be.
