Careful there guy. Not all pro-life/anti-choice people are Christian. In fact, not all of them are religious.
I should know, I'm an atheist and I'm pro-life/anti-choice to the extreme (I consider in vitro to be legalistic infanticide, for example, because of the discarded embryos).
To put it in perspective -- I make Pope John-Paul II look like an abortionist sympathizer, viewing the women who have abortions as victims of systems that have allowed this evil. I view them as monsters and butcherers with very, very few exception (my definition of 'acceptable' is so slim that fewer than 500 in the USA would be considered acceptable -- only if the mother could not get the fetus to viability even at the cost of her own life).

Doc8: You know, they wouldn't have the health problems of a back-alley abortion if they didn't make the choice to have them. No sympathy for murderers. If they die trying to slaughter their unborn -- good. Get their diseased psychology out of the gene pool!

FIRST an angel stopped Abraham from doing it too Abraham offering Isaac and an abortion is not the same thing For Abraham this was a test never meant to be gone through with
SECOND the motives are different Abraham did it for God Generally an abortion is for convenience And in the fewer cases where a life is at stake like a tubal pregnancy those are not the cases in dispute. I would certainly understand why somone would end a tubal pregnancy which is a lose lose situation where both mother and child might die... for example
THIRD in the end Abraham died at 175 and saw Isaac to live to be the same age as he was when promised a child 76 as Abraham died... it was life and blessing Children are a blessing not a curse
Jesus came to give abundant life not death... The birth of Isaac was a blessing that enriched Abrahams life in his old age The child was a blessing on blessing God even had abraham pray for some wife stealin Philistine king that his wives might have children because children are a gift of the Lord
FOURTH this was unique... the story of Abrahams faith in the miricle child to come, the ofering of the son and getting him back were foreshadowing Jesus Christ... not foreshadowing the abortion mill... but Jesus died for sinners like you and me and women affected by a bortion and there is forgiveness and restoration in him and blessing

All anti abortionist don't have a God. I am an Atheist so before you make a silly statement like that know what you are talking about. Anyway the sacrifice of Issac had nothing to do with Abortion. Quit trying to justify murder. When you kill an innocent helpless human being you will just have to live with it. You cant get it off your conchies that easy. BB

First you should have read this passage in the Bible
(Genesis 22:1-18).
God tested Abraham and told him to scarifice his son, Issac to Him. Just as Abraham was about to sacrifice Issac, God saw that Abraham truly was loyal to God and God provided a ram for the scarifice instead. Abortion is murder. You are killing a new life.

So you and I agree that abortion is equivalent to killing a person. That's a good start...
Seriously though, if you read the whole story, you'll see that God didn't actually allow Abraham to kill his son. You'll also see how horrified Abraham was at the command and even though he obviously disagreed with it and didn't understand it, he was prepared to go through with it anyway to show his faithfulness. It was a test of faith for Abraham and an object lesson for everyone (a symbol of the sacrifice of God's only begotten Son who would be offered up for the sins of all mankind). Comparing it to the abortion debate sorta misses the point entirely IMO.

God was merely testing Abraham and stopped Abraham from carrying through with this sacrifice before he completed the sacrifice. Read the facts for yourself and please stop using the bible out of context for your own perverted purposes.
Abortion is murder and those who commit this murder can call it what they want while they're here on earth, but on judgement day, their maker will let them know what it really is. Murder. How people can claim life isn't life at conception is beyond me.. ...kind of like saying a turkey isn't a turkey until it comes out of the oven. Hmmm..... ..sounds like just another sad excuse for people to legalize their sins. Our society is getting more sad by the day.

Abraham was only tested to see if he would give his son , God stopped him from going through with it.However the pagans at that time were sacrificing their children to their pagan gods and they were not being stopped."But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel , yea , and made his son to pass through the fire , according to the abominations of the heathen , whom the Lord cast out before the children of Israel." 2 Kings 16:3. for more scriptures on this read 2 Kings 23:10 , 2 Ch.33:6 , and Eze.16:21.

Abraham wasn't required to kill his son Isaac. It was a test to see if Abraham had the faith that he needed. God stopped him from killing Issac.
Nothing you try to rationalize to make killing of unborn children ok will work. You would still be killing another human. That is murder pure and simple.

God asked Abraham to sacrifise Issac in order to test his resolve, even Issac went willing, God provided a substitute, which is a picture of what Christ did for us on the cross when He died for our sins.

Not all those who are anti-abortion are religious and not all of them by any means are biblical literalists, there are sensible arguments on both sides, I wouldn't get hung up on the Bible as part of the debate.
Edit:
And I am the reverse of JP below but would happily debate him about abortion with no reference to a god.
