While every car company can produce a lemon, Honda has a long reputation for producing reliable cars. Acura, it's luxury nameplate, presumably has even better production standards than the regular Hondas (I know Lexus does compared to Toyotas).
Of course, if you're buying used, how the car was treated by the previous owners is more important than anything the manufacturer did.

Acura is very reliable and being an RSX Type-S it should not only be reliable but you should be able to burn rubber like nothing and it is also good on milage because it can last a very long time. My cousin's boyfriend has a intergra and he burns people out like nothing being from the same family I say its should be good.

Yes, I have had mine a little over 2 years with 63000+ miles. Still runs great. There are three major pluses I like about the car when I first got it.
1) The driving experience. It's a fast, fun car. Suspension is good and shifting is really smooth.
2) If you want to mod your car there are plenty of aftermarket parts and a great online community to help you out (clubrsx.com).
3) Best bang for your buck. 200 HP for less than $23000.
If you want to find a similar car get the new civic si. It's basically the same car but different exterior. Personally I think the rsx exterior is better than the civic si but that's all preference.

Acura's are very reliable and the RSX is no exception. The one thing to be careful of is that the engine needs to be rev'ed very high for maximum performance. The transmission has synchronizers that will allow shifts at +8,000 rpm very easy. Several engines have been damaged by mis-shifts into lower gears instead of higher gears. Over reving results in bent valves or worse. I'd guess some other high rev'ing designs have similar issues.

Yes it is, i know a few people with 2002 rsx type-s (first model year) and they are running a super charger installed at 80,000 mile and are now at 120,000 mile and only needed a o2 sensor and spark plugs and a belt replaced.
They are a great car, fun to drive and if you like to mod, theres tons you can do(body wise there is great aftermarket support and oem, proformance wise its even better, 3 super charger kits, and god knows how many bolt on turbo kits.)

Very Reliable. It took the place of the Acura Integra. I have an older 95 Integra with 327,000 miles on it. never had any major engine work...just your basic maintence...and it still runs great!

I have had mine since 2002 and I have had no problems, no repairs, nothing has broken, still feels new to me. I take it in for regular servicing, otherwise it never sees a shop.

yeah my friend has one and it is really good, he has had it for about a year i think and it has had no problem, and they are pretty fast cars, he took his to just under 140MPH, i was with him and it was acturaly pretty stable at that speed.
oh and they have good resale values and they will last well into 100,000 miles
