my 15yr old son has an attitude at times when I mention this by saying lose the attitude he says Ive not got an attitude this is shown in many ways they way he answers me or how he puts his point across and the it wasnt me to everything attitude is worst.. how I deal with it is mention it to him see how he responds i.e. Im sorry or continues with the attitude then I punish you are grounded with no sky T.V. or playstation or laptop and seen as you will have nothing to do you can have a good think to yourself on how you speak to me or react towards me you dont see the problem well I shall speak to you in exactly the same way you did to me and see if you see why Im angry.. Also remind them you are their mother and should be given respect as you give it to them tell them how disappointed you are with them and send them to their room with this to think about ... Take you away from them also for a while by only speaking to them when you need to and make the do chores in this time they have nothing else to do it works for me good luck

If don't think you should take away privleges. Think about it: if you take things away that gives them more free time, and what will they do with that free time...?
Try your best to treat them like an adult, with respect, and make sure to define the family rules, and maybe give them more freedoms every year, like later bedtimes. If they say something really offensive I suggest you instead of taking stuff away, make them do something constructive like sort the bookshelves or dust.
It's natural for them to hate you for a while and be rude to you and others. So just try to support them when they're down, but also give them a little privacy when they need it. Oh, and always explain why it's not good to do or say certain things. The worst thing to hear from a parent is "Because I said so".
Hopefully that helps a little, good luck!

if a teenager is going to rebel then they will. i was the perfect teenager never getting into trouble or anything. but as soon as i would try to talk to my parents or have a discussion they would go on about me having "attitude" which i didn;t i felt like i had no voice. maybe you should listen to your son, he may be just trying to voice his opinion and your shutting him down.

IF YOU START THE DISCIPLINE WHILE SHE IS VERY YOUNG, SHE WONT GROW UP TO GIVE ATTITUDE! SHE WILL KNOW BETTER.
MY MOTHER DISCIPLINE ME AND MY SIBLINGS AT A VERY YOUNG AGE. WHEN WE BECAME TEENAGERS, WE KNEW BETTER TO EVEN THINK ABOUT TALKING BACK!!
TRY TAKING AWAY THINGS THAT MEAN THE MOST TO HER LIKE CELL PHONE, CAR KEYS, PRIVILEGES, ETC. STICK TO IT AND BE FIRM!

Yup, I would start taking privledges away. If the attitude stops, he/she can start getting things back.

treat him like an adult and he will act like one. if he acts like a child then treat him like a child. explain this to him as im sure he will co-operate with you. its simple really.
