How important is a boxer's amateur record once he is a successful pro?
Sometimes it's almost impossible to find someone's amateur record that you think would be readily available.

The amount of wins and losses don,t count for anything as and amateur boxer when you turn pro but the experience a fighter gains as and amateur is in valuable for instance I have a nephew who had no amateur experience and turn pro his record is 3 wins and 4 losses not a good way to Begin a boxing career now had =he fought amateur and had the same record no one would care because you could say he is learning his craft when your a pro with a losing record no one takes you serious now can he still have a great boxing career only time will tell

The record of an amatuer is meaningless. This is a time for a fighter to hone his skills and learn his strengths and weaknesses. Many factors play into your amature record. At what age did you start? Were you 15 and very raw or were you 20 and naturally stronger than your 17 year old opponant? The bottom line is that once your a professional, your amature status is not important. Its like your college stats if your a football player.

Depends on the fighter. It may be meaningless for most, but in some cases, most notably Greg Page, it helps out alot especially when you face them Cubans and Russians.

It becomes bragging rights only once you're pro. It's fluf that sometimes comes up on trivia but others it's worthless.
