Is it wrong for me to get so annoyed???

Why does my blood boil when I see people write "close proximity?"

And, when people say "For all intensive purposes?"

Proximity means close...and it's "intents and purposes."

I really need to relax, huh?

I don't think it's wrong for you to get irritated...everyone has their own pet peeves (or 'soap box issues' as a friend and I like to call them). I started a list...and every time I think of new things that bug the hell out of me, I add it. And when I need a good laugh, I pull out the list and read over it.

Don't worry, people with lousy grammar make me angry too. There is no excuse to be stupid, education is free until you graduate high school, if someone isn't taking advantage of that oppurtunity I won't feel bad for them in 30 years when they can't get anything but a minimum wage job.

haha i hear ya. I work in a restaurant in canada (not quebec) and i have the same reaction when someone asks for extra serviettes (napkins) like they're french or something! I think everyone has those stupid little things that just irritate them.

No, you need to continue to get annoyed and tell people when they're wrong. Otherwise, they'll go through life not knowing any better and we'll all have to deal with bad grammar.

Everyone has their pet peeves . . . poor grammar is also one of mine. Add these to the list:

    "expecially" instead of "especially"

    "irregardless" instead of "regardless"

using excessive apostrophes when not appropriate

    using "since" and "sense" interchangeably

The list goes on. It's sad, really . . .

Yes, but there's nothing wrong in pointing out those errors in a friendly manner.

    Your blood boils at that?

You are heading for a stroke.

    Relax? Yes.

And now, ask yourself: Who appointed me teacher and monitor of mankind?

I understand what you mean. Just correct and take it easy!

But then you could become annoying...just relax!

Yes please calm down, but those are good examples of annoying misuse of a phrase.

Kinda like someone says, "I need to go to the ATM Machine."

the "m" in ATM is for "machine."

some people dont know any better......but you shouldn't get so annoyed over this.......it's something so small, not worth getting all upset for. relax
