'If we've been created in a simulation, then that's particularly conceivable that there actual replace right into a author'. real yet so what? that's not supernatural that's organic so that's not a god. The very concept of the supernatural is fully meaningless in case you think of roughly it. it is the reason 'god' is one among those stupid concept. the only way i'm able to possibly think of a god exists is that if there is an evil demon messing with my brains wiring (or perchance an alien messing with my programming if the simulation concept is right). That 'messing' with my skill to understand a supernatural author skill I have no way of get away from my delusion. That being the case that's not my fault is it? If one has to question fact to such an severe point it begs the question: how can one truly have confidence in something different than ones self. That techniques-set ends up in solipsism that's valueless (because of the fact you could besides faux the universe IS genuine even notwithstanding if that's not).

According to the movie "The Matrix", yes. Or, perhaps our universe was simulated "A Long Time Ago, In a Galaxy Far, Far Away.
Maybe, we could start simulating our own universes pretty soon, right?

The question is irrelevant. That is, it really doesn't matter whether this is a simulation or not. For us, it is reality. Maybe there is an entity mightier than us, for whom this is a mere game played for amusement, but then we would never be able to comprehend such a being, no more than the AI in your favourite video game could comprehend your world. Whatever you are experiencing as reality, IS reality.

It doesn't, because there is absolutely no way to tell. The only influence this question has in my life (and I've been thinking about it on and off since the first Matrix movie) is it gives me something to think about when I'm bored. Why bug yourself about something that may or may not possibly exist, with absolutely no way to gain definite knowledge either way?
Source(s): PS: It's also a reason i think it will be very interesting to see what happens when I die. - 1 decade ago
Well, a scenario like this is equivalent to the Matrix series. Some would accept the program and live in the Matrix while others will fight for there "freedom".

World that we live in, is both created and perceived by this mammoth computer called the mind.
We create the world we live in, through our thoughts and our beliefs, which in turn decide our responses to life itself.

I thought of it too.
We might be 'somebody's' experiment.
Since I believe there's nothing we can actually do about it provided it's true, it won't affect the way I live my life at all. I'm already an atheist :)

But if it was, why would we be given the capacity to understand the possibility of such a degree? Would that make reality meaningless?

I like your question. I always thought of something similar to that. But the truth is I don't know, it boggles my mind
