Sedating/Calming overactive kitten after surgery?
My cat was just spayed & declawed. Due to overactivity after her operation, she had to have a hernia operation. The vet says no activity but wont prescribe anything. Is there anything I can give her to calm her down and keep her from being active?

You can get a bottle of Rescue Remedy from a health foods store today and start treating her right away. You just shake the bottle really well and put three to four drops on the fur between her ears - AM, twice during the day if you can and before bedtime.
This will treat her emotionally from the trauma and shock of the surgeries and help to bring her into a better balance with her feelings.
Use it for a week to ten days. She may calm down immediately or it may take a day or two. Treat for a full ten days. The flower essences are energetic in their nature and cannot harm her in any way or interfere with any medications she receives from her vet.
I hope you will see an immediate reaction.

Your vet should be able to prescribe a light sedative for your cat if not ask your vet to board your cat until the cat can be active again

Confine your kitty to her kennel or cat carrier (hope it is large enough for her to lay down in comfort. Let her out when she needs to poo or pee and when she needs to eat. Think of it as a child needing complete bedrest for a period of time. Call your vet and ask how long kitty needs to be in complete "bed rest" before she can go back to her normal activities.

Make sure she eats, but what I did was get a nice sized kennel, and put her in a quiet room. The kennel was large enough for a small litter box and her kitty bed to fit in. Stay calm around her, and keep her in a small place for as long as the doc tells you. For us it was two days. We still took her out, but not to have free roam of the house. only to be held, and to stretch a bit.
