Are you "support staff"? If so, what does your boss do that ticks you off?
Also, what could your boss (or another person who gives you work to do) do to cause you to like him or her more? (And, please, ignore the obvious things that only a relatively high-up person could do such as give raises or extra time off.)
Thanks for your input!

if you train your employees to function when you aren't around is the biggest management tool I know. It is known as empowerment. they know that they can make a decision and not worry about it if it is not perfect all the time.
training and self empowerment and i had a few bosses who didn't know what that was all about

My boss sees me as a threat to her position. Truth of the matter, I wouldn't have it. She has told me many times that she is the boss and that I am not to make suggestions, that's her job. She constantly looks down on what I do and if she makes a mistake, I am not to tell her about it. I don't expect her to last, but I am having a ball dealing with her frustrations. You see, I've long since made mine (I'm retired) and she is still digging. Obviously, she is an unhappy person.

Respect covers a lot of area. Respect that I have a family and have scheduled my time for work and personal. Respect would go a long way on him planning his schedule ahead as I do. Good manners, not expect me to fall all over him with kindnesses.

what ticks me off?: not having the balls to stick to her guns and get rid of obviously dead beat employees that are habitually late, watching tv/missing, or on break for the 5th time. her weakness creates an increase in bad habits with employees, which in turn, puts more work/stress on others.
what could cause me to like them more:?: mutual respect at all times. email a thank you or "i noticed that you did a great job with..........
introduce staff to persons that he or she is touring around the hospital. we are valued employees that are keeping this facility successful. without us, she couldn't have that opportunity. remember everyone below you is just as important as the people above you on the ladder. i could go on and on...

Respect is a great management tool, showing the employee that they are an intricate part of your business and allowing them to show the levels of responsibility they have makes them feel more important which in turns will improve their performance. And to think its not that hard to show someone just a little respect!!

My boss does not handle high stress very well -- she huffs (and sighs like a child) and takes it out on me. God forbid I ask a question when she is like that, she just snaps! Whenever we have a large conference/meeting/etc coming up, I just dread going to work. She can't make me like her more - she is a great person but cannot handle stress.

Being self centered, never use my talents and skills to slove the problem. Always sees my mistake but fail to recognize my contribution.

That all depends? Is he in that position due to merit or by having to wipe his nose alot.
