Do upgrade versions of Vista allow clean installs?
I've looked high and low online and can't really find a clear answer. What I want to know is, does the Vista Upgrade DVD allow you to format your drive, wipe XP and do a clean install. I have no intention of doing an "in-place" upgrade of XP. I know there are several versions of Vista, let's just assume they are all the same when it comes to this one issue.
If it does... do you need your XP CDs for validation because I have no idea where they are and my laptop didn't even come with them... it has a restore partition...

Here is a page on from Microsoft about upgrading:http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/upg...
so apparantly yes you can do a clean install, in fact in some instances it is required. It doesn't say here, but from past experience I would say that you would need your XP CD to use the upgrade.
