My wife allowed her mother in law (very much against my wishes) to take our newborn son to her house about an hour away to stay there. Her excuse is because we are leaving this country (Philippines) in about 2-3 months and she wants them to be able to see the baby. Now, she is unable to breastfeed because the baby is an hour away and she is still recovering from birth, so the baby is being formula fed (again against my wishes). Is it unhealthy for the baby to be away from the mother when he is barely a week old?

My son will be born mid Feb (Filipina Mother American Father) and we will need to register the birth and get the certificate so we can register the birth with the US Embassy. How long does it take from the time the baby is born until you receive the cert if you do everything right away? Where can I find processing times as well?

My wife and I have different work schedules and it is not possible for me to change my schedule as my boss has denied my request twice. However, it is possible for my wife (who works in a call center) to change her schedule to match mine but she doesn't want to. The reason she doesn't want to is because during the day, which is her current schedule, she doesn't have to take calls however during the night she has to and she doesn't like taking calls. Our current schedules are exact opposite meaning when my work finishes hers is just getting started. This makes it very hard for us to do anything together and it is stressing me. I am currently staying in the Philippines with her but I will be leaving in 4 months and I probably wont see her for a long time after that so I want to spend as much time with her as possible. I have tried to sit down and talk to her about it multiple times but she refuses to change her schedule. She doesn't seem to understand the emotional toll it is putting on me. I don't know what to do anymore.

Just filed the first packet to the US state department, but there is instructions to send a bar code to the embassy of the applicant (Philippines). Should I do that at the same time I file the other packet or wait for the SASE to be issued? Also, do I just mail that barcode out and it will handle itself or do I have to call the embassy too?
