If you process everything immediately, how does it take to complete I-130 for spouse?

I am a US citizen filing for an I-130 for my filipina wife. We are getting married in the Philippines April 1. Neither of us have been married before. In your experience, how long did it take you to process the I-130 from filing to the time they arrived at the airport. The website states around 6 months but I am looking for the experiences of other users. Please do not quote a time from some other website and tell me what you have personally experienced.

Update:

As I said, please only comment if you have actually done the I-130 before or you know someone personally close to you that has and you know the correct details about it.

It took my wife from Japan a year to get hers, and Japan is listed as one of the fastest countries.

It depends a lot by country too. Jamaica, Philippines and Mexico generally take longer. Jamaica can take up to 3 years in a lot of cases for example.

Right now things are even slower then normal because in July 07, they tripled the fees for everything, which made a huge glut in filing that really clogged up the system. I read somewhere that they got almost an entire years worth of applications in one month.

By now I hope they have caught back up.

Also, where you live is also a factor. You file based on the office for your region of the US. Some offices are faster then others also.

Here's how it works. You get married there. You come back, alone. You file the application and supporting documents. It's going to take at least a year from start to finish if you get a K-3 Visa and up to 18 months if you get the better CR-1 Visa.

CR-1 is better because she doesn't have to adjust status once she gets to the United States (extra $1,010) plus 6-8 months before she gets her Green Card.

    To get CR-1 you file I-130, I-864 and G-325A.

To get K-3 you file I-129F, I-130, I-864 and G-325A. (no extra charge for the I-129F when filed with the I-130 for the K-3).

There's no short cut. Nothing makes it faster. Hiring a lawyer offers no advantage.

You can find the forms here.....

Source(s): ***** I lived in the Philippines for almost 7 years and know at least 20 Americans who got married there. My wife's a Filipina. We've been married 29 years. We've got two friends whose wives came over to the USA within the last two years. If that's not enough experience for you then just ignore my post.

First off I'm not really sure that you can bring her in if you are marred outside of the us... For my mom it took over a year for her to get her green card and be able to leave the country and be able to come back in... for some of my other relatives it took one about 18 months and for the other it took about 10 months so I would say about a year... but two of the three were before 9/11.... good luck!
