whats wrong with our criminal justice system?

I just caught a news article about another person who was wrongfully convicted of a crime and finally released by DNA evidence. It just made me think about how many people have been wrongfully accused and jailed. Also how people like for example, in the duke rape case, can still be accused of such crimes and have the DNA hidden. What is really going on with this countries judicial system. Is it true you really are guilty until you can afford a lawyer to prove you are innocent?

Heres the link for the news article about the guy who was just released:

my friend ..you should hang out at court some time you will be amazed how things are ran..I see illegals in there all the time who has multiple felonies against them get off by paying court cost and don't get deported..and then I see black men get hosed by the court for driving while being black..I got 2 felony charges against me and the court and officer never investigated the case..I got a lawyer I had to quit a good paying job to get a free lawyer I made too much money..yeah right I couldn't afford a lawyer on my pay..either way..so now I am broke..dude its a business..like any other..as long as you got money you can buy what you want..I wonder how many innocent people take plea bargains out of fear..there is no justice..

America has one of the best justice systems in the world man. In other countries, you are GUILTY until proven innocent. However, there are some flaws and child molestors and rapists are given too little time behind bars.

What i think is wrong with our system is criminals who've committed petty crimes are not given a chance in modern society to work jobs at reputable places. They are labeled and they are stuck working min. wage jobs because they have a felony. Their lives are ruined because of a mistake they made years ago. that is not fair because they deserve a second chance.

HOWEVER,I don't have any damn sympathy for

    1) child molestors

    2) rapists

    3) kidnappers

    4) serial killers

The justice system should have a rule to put away such people FOR LIFE after they're proven guilty in the court of law.

It pays to keep prisons full, when it's operated for profit. In my town the maximum security prison is filled with 80% of domestic or driving related offenses. They feed very small meal portions so that they can milk inmates on the canteen kiosk. They charge 30 cents for a small plastic spoon. You can by 10 for a buck in a retail store. That's just one little example. How about marijuana laws? Why decriminalize it? The state doesn't want that, the judge and the attorneys don't want it either. Why? It's good for business because a misdemeanor can put you in jail for up to a year and a $1000 dollar fine. It isn't just the criminal justice system, it's our culture of greed, profitability and praise of the almighty dollar.

i actually think our criminal justice system is pretty good. We only hear of the few bad cases that were screwed up but there are millions of convictions every year that are legitimate. When abou 80% of our cases plea out then there is a good chance we are catching the right people. I doubt very seriously many people plea that aren't guilty. Also, DNA is so precise that it is bound to exonerate some people. My problem is with criminals not doing enough time.
