Female Question?

Hi, i would like to no what is the best period pain relief for you, i hav had mine period pain for 2 days now & its stopping me from doing my every day things Please help

    A hot water bottle for against your lower abdomen and lower back always eases the pain. If you don't mind pain killers, ibuprofen (like Advil) help a lot too! A little bit of movement (even just walking) sometimes helps, though I find it comfortable to lie in the fetal position with a hot water bottle.

    Menstrual cramps are caused by the muscles in your uterus contracting, so the most effective treatments are those that affect muscle inflammation. That would include taking ibuprofen (you can buy it at any drug store), which is an anti-inflammatory, and applying a heating pad to your abdomen (the heat will help the muscles relax, which will ease the pain). Taking a hot bath helps for the same reason as the heating pad, and some people find that drinking a hot beverage like tea can help as well.

    If you routinely get cramps whenever you menstruate, you might want to take ibuprofen on a regular schedule for the first day or two of your period to keep them from getting started to begin with. That is, if the bottle says you can take two tablets every four hours -- take two tablets every four hours for a day or two. Be careful, however, because ibuprofen and other anti-inflammatories can irritate the lining of your stomach. If you have any stomach pain, stop taking the drug immediately.

    Well the best is to take at least one Motrin for at least 2 days prior to starting your period. You gotta remember that your uterus is a muscle. So just like you would have muscle soreness when you work out and you would take something for the soreness, you would do the same for your cycle.

    So if u take the Motrin prior to your period starting. Do some light stretching daily and when your period starts take a Motrin or whatever pain reliever you use, you will see a drastic change in the pain.

    Aleve or anything with Naproxen Sodium does it for me (there's a new 12 hour pamprin made with that stuff, it's awesome). Also light exercize like walking or swimming, sit-ups, a hot water bottle or other hot pack, icy-hot ointment, laying on your stomach with a pillow under your uterus...all of these have helped for me. There is also a pressure point on your achilles tendon (the rubbery area on the back of your ankle a couple inches above your heel) that can be squeezed or massaged, and that helps for some women. If this keeps up month after month your should see your doc, they might put you on birth control (unless you're trying to get pregnant or have some sort of medical condition that makes it so you shouldn't take it).

    The absolute best pain relief that works for me is Exedrin. It even kicks in quickly, and I have ridiculous pain on my first two days of my cycle. It has aspirin in it, but it doesn't affect the flow.

    I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago. The doctor said to take Midol. And it worlks great! Also you might want to try taking a nice soothing bath, but no bubbles. Bubbles will irratate your vaginal area. Try it. Works like a charm!

    Advil works great, or even Midol at times.

    Depending on how serious your cramps are you might actually want to speak to your doctor. They can perscribe you stronger painkillers for serious menstral pain. There are women who very crippling pain during their period.

    3 ibuprofens every 6 hours; couple that with something like a ThermaCare Heat Pad. Caffeine will also help.

    I've found that Pamperin works great! It is also a good idea to start taking these types of medications a few days before your period. I also use a heating pad on my abdomen, it works great to relieve cramps!

    I find walking, or sit ups work. Also, a worm bath, or heating pad. If I am in real pain, I take some Ibprofin. AKA. Motrin.
